The show is scheduled to release on 14th July on Netflix.
4. Rocky aur Rani kii Prem Kahaani
Platform- Theatres
Featuring Ranveer Singha and Alia Bhatt in the titular role, this family rom-com drama shows the love story of two people belonging to different social classes. The movie is scheduled to release on 28th July.
5. Barbie
Platform- Theaters
Starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, the movie is one of the most anticipated releases of this year. The trailer is vague- hinting towards anything from sheer comedy to dark comedy, and it may as well be a satire. Directed and written by Greta Grewig, Barbie will be releasing on 21st July, and we have high hopes from the movie since Grewig has set the standard with Little Women and Lady Bird.
6. Oppenhiemer
Platform- Theatre
Giving a compelling competition to Barbie is Christopher Nolan’s seemingly next big masterwork focused on the Manhattan Project and the mind behind the first nuclear weapons, J. Robert Oppenheimer. Nolan is said to have used minimal CGI and ample practical effects- where in one interview he said that audiences will have a mind-blowing experience especially with the nuclear bomb scenes. Featuring Cillian Murphy in the main role, the movie is releasing on the same day as Barbie.
7. Blind
Platform- Jio Cinema
Sonam Kapoor Ahuja returns after a long hiatus as a visually impaired woman who has abilities to tell about a person without being able to see them. When a murderer roams free in Scotland, Kapoor’s character tells the police that she can catch him through a trap. Blind looks like a promising murder mystery with a compelling perspective and well-executed concept. It will be available for streaming on JioCinema from July 7.
8. The Summer I turned Pretty Season 2
Platform- Prime Video
The Summer I turned Pretty was a sensation after its first season. Season two drops on 16th July where the trailer hints at Susanah’s death and a conflict between Conrad, Jeremy and Belly as they try to reconcile but end up getting more entangled in their unresolved feelings and strained relationships. The season promises to add more depth and intensity to the show, layering a maturity to it that wasn’t there in the first one.
9. Witcher Season 3 (Volume 2)
Platform- Netflix
Similar to Stranger Things, Netflix decided to split its original fantasy drama Witcher’s Season 3 into two parts. This will be Henry Cavill’s last season as Witcher Geralt as he will be reportedly replaced by Liam Hemsworth.
