Not Amrish Puri But This Actor Was First Offered Mogambo’s Role In “Mr. India”

Amrish Puri, one of the finest talents of Bollywood may have bid goodbye to this world but he is still alive in our hearts because of the iconic characters that he played during his acting career.

One such iconic character was of Mogambo which he played in the movie “Mr. India” and his famous dialogue “Mogambo khush hua” is still one of the most loved dialogues of Indian movie buffs. However, you will be surprised to know that Amrish Puri was not the first choice for this role and earlier some other actor was signed to play the character of Mogambo.

This actor is also known for his superb acting skills and he has played many iconic characters.

We are talking about Anupam Kher and “The Kashmir Files” actor himself made this revelation in a recent interview.

Anupam Kher stated that he was signed first for the role of Mogambo but after one-two months, the makers replaced him with Amrish Puri. He said that when an actor is dropped from the movie, he feels very bad about it but when he saw the work of Amrish Puri as Mogambo in the film, he felt that the decision of the makers was absolutely correct.

The 1987 released movie “Mr. India” starred Anil Kapoor and Sridevi in the lead roles, the director of the film was Shekhar Kapur and it was one of the biggest hits of its times.

Amrish Puri worked in around 450 movies and though he played various types of roles, he was best known for playing villain characters.
