The Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also made a strong comeback after being snubbed in the WTC final which was played against Australia. Ashwin took total 12 wickets (5 in the first innings & 7 in the second innings) in the match and played an important role in India’s victory.

Yashasvi Jaiswal who made his international test debut with this match opened the innings with skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill was shifted at the number 3 position. Though the match ended in just 3 days, still there were some exciting incidents that took place and the stump mic also caught some interesting chatter of the Indian batters, especially Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli.

There was an instance when Yashasvi Jaiswal was heard complaining to Virat Kohli about the West Indian pacer Kemar Roach. Yashasvi told Virat that Roach was coming in his way when he was running between the wickets.

Earlier on the day 2, in the 90th over which was bowled by skipper Kraigg Brathwaite, Virat Kohli was heard saying, “Batta phenk raha hai” to Yashasvi Jaiswal. Virat Kohli meant to say in Hindi that Kraigg Brathwaite was chucking or his bowling action was illegal, however it is not clear whether the Indian cricketer made a complain to the on-field umpires or not in this regard.

Fans of Virat Kohli were expecting him to score a century in this match but the former skipper was finding it a little difficult to bat on the tricky pitch and he got out at the score of 76 runs.

The second test match will start from 20 July and it will be played at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
