Dinesh Karthik Suggests The Captain For Asian Games & Its Not Shikhar Dhawan
The Indian cricket team will travel to West Indies soon but the main focus of the team management is on the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which is slated to be played in India later this year. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has a decision to make and it is in regard to sending the team for the Asian Games which will start from September 24 and they are hosted by China this time. India didn’t send its cricket team in the year 2010 and 2014 Asian Games and in 2018, cricket was not a part of the event but in 2023, cricket is making a comeback and the BCCI needs to decide soon whether it will send its men’s or women’s or both teams for the event.
As per the reports, the Indian board will send a relatively less experienced team in the Asian Games because the senior team will prepare for the ODI World Cup. This team will be led by Shikhar Dhawan who has led the Indian squad many times in the past as well.
However in a recent interview, Dinesh Karthik suggested a different name for the post of skipper if the BCCI sends a B team over there. DK says that he seriously wishes that if a B-team is sent by India to the Asian Games and R Ashwin is not considered for the ODI team, then he should be made the skipper of the team because he genuinely deserves that feather in his cap.
According to Dinesh Karthik, Ashwin has earned the right to be the skipper of team India as he has achieved many feats in his life, so he hopes that the selectors take the decision of making him captain of team India for the Asian Games.
