“Send Your Wife,” TCS Nashik Employee Accuses Team Leader Of Harassment & Pressure Conversion
The situation unfolding at the Nashik branch of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has raised serious concerns about workplace safety, ethics and accountability. What began as individual complaints has now expanded into multiple cases involving allegations of harassment, coercion and inappropriate conduct, prompting investigations at several levels.
At the center of the issue is a male employee who described a deeply troubling experience during his time at the company. He alleged that colleagues made personal and offensive remarks about his private life, including a comment suggesting that he should send his wife to them because the couple had been unable to have children despite medical treatment. According to him, this was not an isolated incident but part of a larger pattern of harassment.

He explained that when he chose to ignore such remarks, the situation escalated. False reports were allegedly sent about his performance to the head office and he felt increasing pressure in the workplace. Over time, he came to believe that he was being pushed toward adopting certain religious practices against his will, which he opposed. This resistance, he said, further intensified the hostility directed at him.
The employee named two individuals – Tausif Akhtar (his team leader) and Danish Sheikh (a colleague) – as being primarily involved in the alleged harassment. He claimed that Tausif Akhtar, due to his position of authority, assigned him excessive work, including tasks meant for others, in order to maintain pressure and force compliance.
The situation reportedly turned physical during one confrontation, where Tausif Akhtar allegedly threw a fan at him and threatened his life. The employee said that he reported this incident to the Human Resources (HR) department but the broader concerns remained unresolved.

According to his account, the harassment went beyond professional boundaries and extended into personal beliefs and practices. He alleged that he was pressured to wear a skullcap, recite religious phrases and participate in prayers, which he did not wish to follow.
The concerns were not limited to one individual. The same employee recounted an incident involving a female colleague who approached him in distress. She reportedly claimed that the same individuals behaved inappropriately with women in the office, sometimes asking them to stay back after working hours and then engaging in misconduct.
These claims align with a separate complaint filed by a 23-year female employee who accused Danish Sheikh of attempting to forcibly kiss her and pressuring her into marriage. She also alleged that his associates, including Tausif Akhtar and HR executive Nida Khan, made objectionable remarks about her religious beliefs and tried to influence her views.

Another female employee described a different but equally concerning experience. She alleged that she was isolated at work and made to sit alone on a rooftop terrace, where her phone and personal belongings were taken away. She claimed this happened repeatedly, often under the pretext of security or other reasons. According to her, young women between the ages of 20 and 25 were particularly targeted because they were seen as soft targets (easier to manipulate).
A contractual employee added another dimension to the allegations, claiming that some workers were encouraged to form relationships with women from a different religious background and influence their beliefs. There were also claims that money might have been offered in connection with such activities, though these assertions are part of the ongoing investigation.
In yet another case, a female employee alleged that she was discouraged from filing a complaint related to s*xual harassment and coercion. A senior HR official reportedly downplayed her concerns, saying that such incidents “happen”, according to police sources cited by media agency.
The growing number of complaints led to the involvement of a Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is now examining the matter in detail. According to reports referenced by news agency, investigators have found that several complaints were not escalated to higher authorities within the company.

Police have described HR manager Nida Khan as a key figure in the case, alleging that she may have attempted to suppress complaints and protect those accused, despite being part of the office’s Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Committee.
As part of the investigation, authorities have reviewed around 78 suspicious call records, emails and chat exchanges between the accused individuals. Financial transactions are also being examined to determine whether there was any coordinated effort or collusion.
The scale of the issue is reflected in the number of legal cases registered so far. A total of nine cases have been filed, including one by a male employee. These include one case at Deolali Camp police station and eight at Mumbai Naka police station. Several accused individuals, including Danish Sheikh, are currently lodged in Nashik Road Jail.

The leadership of Tata Group has responded to the situation. Chairman N Chandrasekaran has ordered an internal investigation, stating that the company is treating the allegations with the “utmost seriousness”. He reiterated that the organisation maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of coercion or misconduct.
Authorities believe the incidents under investigation occurred over a period spanning from 2022 to 2026 and the inquiry is still ongoing.
The case has also caught the attention of the Maharashtra government. Cabinet minister Nitesh Rane stated that many individuals have reached out through various platforms, claiming exploitation in workplaces. In response, the government is considering launching a helpline number to support victims and encourage them to come forward.

As the investigation continues, the situation highlights broader concerns about workplace culture, the role of internal systems like HR and the importance of ensuring that employees feel safe, heard and protected.
This is really a disgusting and pathetic case and culprits should get harsh punishment for their acts.
