Suryakumar Yadav Reveals How He Prepares For Pressure Situation, “I Ask Coaches To Kick Me Out If…”
Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian cricketer who is currently playing in the IPL 2024 for Mumbai Indians made Indian cricket fans very happy as he smashed his second century of the IPL in the match which was played yesterday against Sunrisers Hyderabad. This performance of SKY is quite important concerning the fact that the T20 World Cup 2024 is going to start in June 2024 and SKY needs to play well if India has to lift the trophy and end the ICC trophy drought of 11 years.
The match was played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai and after batting first, SRH posted a total of 173/8 on the scoreboard with the help of useful knocks of Travis Head (48 runs, 30 balls, 7 fours & 1 six) and Pat Cummins (35 runs not out, 17 balls, 2 fours & 2 sixes).
MI had a pretty bad start as they lost their three top order batters at the score of 31/ 3 but SKY (102 runs not out, 51 balls, 12 fours & 6 sixes) and Tilak Varma (37 runs not out, 32 balls, 6 fours) not only stitched a partnership of 143 runs but also ensured that their team went home as the winner. MI won by 7 wickets with 16 balls remaining in their innings and they moved up to the 9th position from 10th in the points table as it was their 4th win in 12 matches.
After the game, while speaking with former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel and Pragyan Ojha, SKY stated that he would not lie but his heart was beating fast as he never thought that he would be batting so early in the innings. He added that there is a lot of uncertainty in this game but he was ready as he knew that a couple of deliveries will seam away but he chose to settle down for three overs and then if the ball came in his zone, he would play his shots.
He also reveals as to how he prepares for critical situations, he says that he always has in his mind how he will bat if his team loses 2 wickets at the score of 0. He says that this is how he prepares himself in nets and then applies the same thing in the game as well because he knows that if he is able to do it in nets properly, he will certainly do it in the game as well.
Suryakumar Yadav states that he prepares himself as per the situation; for eg., what if his team loses wickets early and sometimes he pressurizes himself so much that he asks his coach to kick him out if he gets out. He adds that in the match, he just needs to express himself because he had already faced such situation during net practice.
That is really a good way of preparing for the match, what do you say?
