Sanjiv Goenka Sacked MS Dhoni From RPS’ Captaincy, Will The Same Happen With KL Rahul Too?

Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of the IPL team Lucknow Super Giants, is currently all over social media because of the manner in which he behaved after his team lost the match to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

LSG will certainly like to forget yesterday’s match which was played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad as they were literally crushed by SRH. Batting first, LSG put up a total of 165/4 but SRH successfully chased the target within 9.4 overs, thanks to the blistering knocks played by Travis Head (89 runs not out) and Abhishek Sharma (75 runs not out).

After the match, Sanjiv Goenka was seen having an animated chat with the LSG skipper KL Rahul and the head coach Justin Langer and Goenka has been heavily slammed for the emotional outburst.

Many former cricketers and commentators felt that though it is obvious he is hurt after seeing his team losing in this manner, still such conversations should take place behind the closed doors as there are so many cameras in the stadium.

Now the big question is how KL Rahul will take this incident and many opine that he will leave this franchise next year. The teams will go for auctions next year and there are pretty good chances that LSG and KL Rahul’s association will come to an end, if KL Rahul won’t leave, the franchise won’t mind releasing him.

This is the same management which had sacked MS Dhoni from captaincy in 2017 when their team Rising Pune Supergiants was not able to perform well in the IPL 2016. MS Dhoni was replaced by Steve Smith and Sanjiv Goenka was slammed a lot for this decision at that time as well. However, Sanjiv Goenka was not affected as he said in an interview that he respects whatever is said by media or whatever is said on social media but he doesn’t think that changing the team’s captain is a matter of debate in public domain.

He said that MS Dhoni’s track record can’t be compared with that of Steve Smith as the latter is starting fresh but it is the question of approach that they want to take and currently they want to have a young captain.

Social media also talked about the gracious manner in which Shah Rukh Khan behaves when his team loses a match.
