“IPL Is Good But Test Is Ultimate,” Dilip Vengsarkar Urges Youth To Focus On Test More Than T20
There is no denying the fact that T20 cricket and league cricket have adversely affected the purest and the longest format of the game which is test cricket as nowadays people don’t want to spend 5 days watching cricket when they can get wholesome entertainment in just 3 hours.
However, the former Indian cricketer and former chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar feels that youngsters should be encouraged to play test cricket because success in test cricket will bring real honour to the players. While speaking at a book launch event, Dilip Vengsarkar stated that nowadays parents get so much influenced by the fame and financial success provided by T20 leagues that they don’t encourage their wards to play test cricket but the focus of players should be on test cricket because it will help them perform well in other formats as well.
Dilip Vengsarkar also stated that because of the IPL, many parents feel that cricket is all about batters so they are more interested in training their kids as batters but in reality, bowlers also play a great role in a team’s win and they carry equal importance irrespective of the format.
Dilip Vengsarkar stated that youngsters should try to play test cricket for the country as they will be rated on the basis of what they have done for the country, the IPL is undoubtedly a good and entertaining format but test cricket is ultimate.
Dilip Vengsarkar was at the book launch event of Jwala Singh’s book which has been titled as Pathway to Cricketing Excellence and Beyond. If you are not aware, then let us tell you that Jwala Singh is the same coach who is behind the success of the Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal and he has also trained Prithvi Shaw.
Talking about his book, Jwala Singh says that his book talks about the three pillars of sports, first is player, second is parents and the third is coach and it also talks about the importance of combined efforts of all the three pillars if a player has to achieve success.
The book has been co-authored by Sreekar Mothukuri and Jwala further says that nowadays parents see that the IPL gives huge fame and money so they think that their kid will also play and earn huge but that is not the way to play sports. He also emphasizes on the fact that parents should give enough time to their kid in order to succeed in game whichever he wants to play.
We certainly agree with Dilip Vengsarkar and Jwala Singh, do you?
