“International Cricket Should Not Clash With IPL,” Jos Buttler On Backlash For Leaving IPL Midway
The Indian Premier League 2024 is in its last phase as only two matches are remaining to be played in the tournament but many former cricketers and fans are not happy with the England cricketers as they all left before the play-offs started. The England cricket team will be playing a T20 series against Pakistan before playing the T20 World Cup 2024 which is going to be played in USA and West Indies.
Though it didn’t affect all the teams yet the four teams which entered the play-offs had to arrange for replacements and many former Indian cricketers were of the opinion that either players should come for the whole tournament or they should not come to take part in the IPL at all.
Jos Buttler, the England T20 team skipper, is an integral part of the IPL team Rajasthan Royals and his absence certainly affected RR’s performance. While talking to reporters, Jos Buttler says that as the skipper of the England cricket team, his first priority is to play for England.
He further adds that in his personal opinion, there shouldn’t be any international cricket when the IPL is going on. He thinks that these games were scheduled for a long time and while going for the World Cup, his number one priority is to play and perform for England and he feels that it is the best preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
However, RR still managed to win the eliminator against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the absence of Jos Buttler as other players rose up to the occasion and helped their team in winning the match by 4 wickets. Now RR will clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (losing side of the first qualifier) in the second qualifier and the winning team will play in the finals against Kolkata Knight Riders on 26 May at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
