Sunrisers Hyderabad may have lost the first qualifier to Kolkata Knight Riders but it still managed to confirm its place in the finals by defeating Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier. The final will be played on 26 May at M. A. Chidambaram stadium, Chennai and it will be interesting to see whether KKR will win their third trophy or SRH will win their second trophy.

As far as the second qualifier is concerned, RR chose to bowl first after winning the toss and the decision proved correct as Abhishek Sharma was dismissed at the score of 12 runs (5 balls, 1 four & 1 six) and Travis Head also got out at the score of 34 (28 balls, 3 fours & 1 six). But Rahul Tripathi (37 runs, 15 balls, 5 fours & 2 sixes) and Heinrich Klaasen (50 runs, 34 balls, 4 sixes) ensured that the RR bowlers did not dominate the match and SRH posted a total of 175/9 on the scoreboard.

In response, RR didn’t get the expected start as Tom Kohler-Cadmore (10 runs, 16 balls, 1 four) got out early. Though Yashasvi Jaiswal played a good knock of 42 runs (21 balls, 4 fours & 3 sixes), RR kept losing wickets at regular intervals and fell short by 36 runs. Dhruv Jurel tried his best as he remained not out at 56 runs (35 balls, 7 fours & 2 sixes) but that was not enough and the 2008 champions missed the chance of winning their second IPL trophy.

The Player of the Match was Shahbaz Ahmed who gave an all-round performance, first he scored 18 runs and then he took 3 important wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, in-form batter Riyan Parag (6 runs, 10 balls) and Ravichandran Ashwin (0).

After the match, when Shahbaz Ahmed was asked as to how he would celebrate his performance, he gave quite a mature answer as he said that they would celebrate only after winning the IPL, for now they would relax only.

Shahbaz Ahmed was an impact player and he further said that he was told by the coach and the captain that they would use him as per the situation, he is a lower-order batter and because of the batting collapse, he got the chance to bat.
