Brian Lara Slammed For Alleged False Claim, Sir Viv Richards & Carl Hooper Demand Sincere Apology

Brian Lara, the legendary former West Indian cricketer will always be counted as one of the best batters of all times but currently he is in the center of a controversy as two other iconic figures of West Indies cricket are upset with him.

In Brian Lara’s recently released book entitled Lara: The England Chronicles, the cricketer has claimed that Sir Vivian Richards used to make Brian Lara cry once in three weeks but he used to make Carl Hooper cry once a week.

Brian Lara wrote that the tone of Viv’s voice was intimidating and it was impossible for a person to remain unaffected if he is not strong enough. Lara claimed that he never got affected with it because he was a strong personality and he was so close to Viv that he knew that abuse was coming but Carl used to shy away from Viv Richards.

Both the cricketers, Sir Vivian Richards and Carl Hooper have responded to these claims and stated in a joint statement that they are deeply disappointed with the gross misrepresentations made about them in Lara’s book.

The statement read, “Sir Vivian Richards and Mr. Carl Hooper are deeply disheartened by the gross misrepresentations made about them in Mr. Brian Lara’s recently released book. The allegations presented not only distort the reality of their relationship but also impugn their characters in an unjust and harmful manner.”

Both Carl Hooper and Viv Richards have denied the claims made by Lara as the statement read, “The claim that Sir Vivian was aggressive towards Mr. Hooper and made him cry once a week is categorically false. Such descriptions paint Sir Vivian as a perpetrator of emotional abuse — an assertion that is not only baseless but also deeply hurtful to both parties.”

They both have demanded a sincere apology from Brian Lara in the statement, “We demand that Mr. Lara immediately issues a public retraction of these false claims and offer a sincere apology for the harm caused. It is crucial for the integrity of public discourse and their personal and professional lives that the truth is set right.”

It will be interesting to see how Brian Lara will respond and what action will be taken by Viv Richards and Carl Hooper if Brian Lara refuses to apologize.
