Suryakumar Yadav Reveals Instructions By Rohit & Dravid To Prevent His Constant ODI Downfall
The Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav performed brilliantly in the third T20I of the 5-match T20I series. He played a destructive innings of 83 runs for which he faced only 44 deliveries and his innings included 10 fours and 4 maximums. Though the 32 years old batter may have missed his century by 17 runs, he has once again shown that he is called the number one T20I batter for a reason. However, SKY as his fans love to call him hasn’t been able to repeat his success of T20I in ODIs and recently he accepted that his performance has been quite bad in ODIs. He also reveals what the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid have told him in regard to playing in ODIs.
Suryakumar Yadav says that to be honest, his stats of ODIs are quite bad and there is no shame in accepting it as everyone knows it. He adds that it is good to be honest but more important is how to improve. He further says that Rohit and Rahul sir have told him that as he doesn’t play ODIs much, he needs to play more and think more about it. As per SKY, Rohit and Rahul have told him that if he is batting in the last 10-15 overs, then they only want him to play 45-50 balls.
SKY adds that he plays T20I so much that he has got used to of it and as he hasn’t played 50 overs format much, he finds it the most challenging. Suryakumar Yadav further says that if a batter gets out early in ODIs, then another one needs to bat in test match like style, then he needs to accelerate and towards the end, the batter needs to bat in T20 style.
He adds that he is trying his best to implement what he has been asked by the team management and they have 7-8 ODIs before the World Cup which is enough for a team so hopefully they will prepare well. SKY says that he will try to repay the faith shown in him by the team management and they will also have a camp before the mega tournament so they are quite hopeful of winning the World Cup.
Suryakumar’s start in the ODIs was not so bad but then he had a disastrous run against Australia in which he registered three successive golden ducks and till now he is struggling in ODIs. SKY got the chance to play in ODIs because KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer were injured. There are reports that they will be back before the World Cup but they won’t be having much match practice which may leave the team management with no option other than playing Suryakumar Yadav in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 that will start from 5 October.
It will be interesting to see whether SKY will be able to repeat his success of T20Is in ODIs or not. What do you say?
