“Captain Ki Baat Sunta Hai?” Bumrah Translates Anchor’s Query For Rinku Singh In An Epic Way

Jasprit Bumrah-led relatively less-experienced team has won the 3-match T20I series against Ireland as it is leading by 2-0 after the first two matches but the Indian team will certainly like to clean sweep the series by winning the third and the final T20I which will be played on 23 August.

Many Indian cricket fans were eager to watch Rinku Singh play on the international level but they were left disappointed as Rinku didn’t get to bat in the first T20I because rain halted the match during the Indian innings but their wish got fulfilled in the second T20I and Rinku Singh also made the best use of the opportunity provided to him.

Rinku Singh came to bat at number 5, he played cautiously for majority part of the innings as there was a time when his score was 15 runs on 15 balls but in the next 5 balls, he scored 23 runs and he smashed 2 fours & 3 sixes. Rinku Singh was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his knock of 38 runs and when he went to take his award and talk to the anchor, he had to take the stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah with him for translation purpose.

However, there was a funny moment as well when the presenter asked Rinku Singh whether he listens to his skipper or plays at his own pace. While translating the question, Jasprit Bumrah asked Rinku in a commanding style whether he listens to his captain (“Captain ki baat sunta hai?”). Rinku Singh smiled in a cute manner and said that he listens to his captain and he is very happy after getting the Player of the Match award. He adds that he has been playing cricket for 10 years and now all his efforts are giving fruits.

Rinku Singh is an integral part of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders and he has made his franchise win many close matches with the help of his power hitting. The level of fandom Rinku Singh enjoys can be understood by the fact that people started chanting Rinku Singh’s name when he smashed the first six.

As far as the match is concerned, the toss was won by the hosts and they decided to bowl first. The Indian team managed to put up a good total of 185/5 in the stipulated 20 overs with the help of some brilliant knocks of Ruturaj Gaikwad (58 runs, 43 balls,  fours & 1 six), Sanju Samson (40 runs, 26 balls, 5 fours & 1 six) and Rinku Singh.

The Ireland could manage only 152/8 in 20 overs despite a superb knock of 72 runs by opener Andrew Balbirnie who faced 51 balls and smashed 5 fours & 4 sixes.

The third and the final T20I will be played on 23 August at the same venue, The Village, Malahide.
