BCCI Announces New Date For India-Pakistan World Cup 2023 Match
The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be played in India and it will start from 5 October with the opener being played between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The same stadium will also host the match between India and Pakistan, earlier this match was slated to be played on 15 October but now it will be played on 14 October.
The rescheduling has been done because from 15 October, a Hindu festival Navratri will start and it will be difficult for the police forces to provide security for the match. Both BCCI and ICC are at the same platform in regard to the venue and they have made it clear that the venue of the match is not going to change.
However, Pakistan is demanding a change in venue citing security reasons and as per the reports, it will send a special unit to India to supervise the arrangements of all the venues where the Pakistani team will play their matches. If you remember, before the 2016 T20 World Cup also, a security delegation visited India and because of their demand, the venue of India-Pakistan match was changed from Dharamshala to Kolkata.
The change in the India-Pakistan match may also prepone the Pakistan-Sri Lanka clash which is scheduled to be played on 12 October in Hyderabad and as per the reports, it may be played on 10 October at the same venue in order to give more gap to Pakistan between their two matches.
This is not the only change that may come in the schedule of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 because few days ago, the BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated that some other cricketing nations have also asked for few changes in their schedule.
Will Pakistan be ready to play at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad? What do you think? Share your views with us.
