Ashwin & Many Others Demand Tilak Varma’s Inclusion In ODI World Cup Squad, Rohit Sharma Reacts

The manner in which the young Indian cricketer Tilak Varma has performed in the ongoing 5-match T20I series against West Indies, he is being considered as the next big thing in the Indian cricket. There are many from the Indian cricket fraternity who feel that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should consider Tilak Varma in their plans for the biggest event of the year, i.e., ICC ODI World Cup 2023. In fact, even the Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who is number one bowler of the world in test format has also urged the selectors to consider Tilak Varma for the mega event.

However, there are very rare chances that the BCCI and selectors will even think of adding new players in their scheme of things, especially when the World Cup is just around the corner. The ODI World Cup is going to start from 5 October in India and with less than two months remaining in it, the probability of Tilak Varma to be able to play for India this time is very less.

Tilak Varma came into limelight after he started playing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and because of his superb performances, he managed to become an integral part of the squad. Recently, Rohit Sharma was asked about the possibility of Tilak Varma getting included in India’s squad for the ODI World Cup, the skipper didn’t say anything with confirmation but he did praise the youngster.

Rohit Sharma who has been leading MI for a long time says that he has been watching the youngster for the last two years, he is very promising and the most important thing is that he has the hunger. He further adds that he is quite mature for his age and he knows his batting very well.

Rohit Sharma states that he doesn’t know anything about the World Cup but the youngster is really talented and he has shown it in the few matches that he has played for the country.

As far as the 5-match T20I series is concerned, West Indies is leading by 2-1 and the fourth T20I will be played today at Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium, Lauderhill, Florida.
