Superstar Vijay Takes Oath As The New CM Of Tamil Nadu, Made This Promise To People

Actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay created history on Sunday after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. The swearing-in ceremony marked a major political shift in the state, ending the decades-long dominance of DMK and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu politics. Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, popularly known as TVK, secured enough support to form the government after the 2026 Assembly elections.

Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Vijay in the presence of political leaders, celebrities, alliance partners and thousands of supporters. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also present at the ceremony. Several senior TVK leaders, including N Anand, Aadhav Arjuna and KA Sengottaiyan, took oath as ministers in the new cabinet.

Soon after the ceremony, Vijay received a ceremonial Guard of Honour and later reached the Tamil Nadu Secretariat, where he officially took charge as the Chief Minister and signed his first set of government documents. The event witnessed massive celebrations across Chennai, with giant LED screens installed in several areas for public to watch the ceremony live.

Addressing his supporters after taking the oath, Vijay delivered an emotional message to his fans and the people of Tamil Nadu. He told them that he is their son/brother and he will surely work for them. He assured citizens that his government would work for the welfare of the people and he received loud cheers from supporters gathered at the venue.

The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Vijay and wished him success for his tenure as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
