Priyadarshan Opens Up On Rajpal Yadav’s Cheque Bounce Case, Calls Him The Most Innocent Actor
Actor Rajpal Yadav recently faced a difficult moment in his life after getting caught up in a long-running legal dispute over unpaid settlement funds. The popular comedy actor surrendered to officials at Tihar Jail in Delhi in connection with a cheque-bounce case, which also led to the postponement of his bail hearing. However, the situation took a positive turn when the Delhi High Court stepped in after his surrender and granted him relief regarding the outstanding debt.

Following the actor’s release, filmmaker Priyadarshan, who has worked with Rajpal Yadav in several films over the years, spoke about the situation and expressed strong support for him.
Priyadarshan shared that he has known Rajpal for many years and described him as one of the most genuine and innocent people he has worked with in the film industry. According to the filmmaker, Rajpal’s trusting nature may have led him to a difficult situation but it has never affected their bond. He also mentioned that many people from the industry came forward to support the actor because they understand his personality and good intentions.
The legal case dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav borrowed ₹5 crore from a Delhi-based company called Murali Projects Pvt Ltd. The money was used to finance his directorial debut film Ata Pata Laapata, which was released in 2012. Unfortunately, the movie did not perform well at the box office, leading to major financial losses and a lengthy dispute over the repayment of the loan.

In 2018, a magistrate’s court convicted the actor under the Negotiable Instruments Act for cheque dishonour and sentenced him to six months in prison. The verdict was later upheld by a sessions court in 2019. Over the years, the total amount owed reportedly increased to around ₹9 crore due to the ongoing dispute.
While Rajpal has been dealing with these legal challenges, Priyadarshan is currently busy preparing for his upcoming film Bhoot Bangla. Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms, the movie blends supernatural elements with comedy.
The recently released trailer offers a glimpse of what looks like a spooky mansion filled with chaotic and humorous situations. With witty dialogues, lively background music and mysterious events unfolding around the characters, the film promises an entertaining ride.

Bhoot Bangla features a strong ensemble cast including Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav and the late Asrani, which has already generated excitement among fans.
