PCB Gets A Blow, Bangladeshi Players May Pull Out Of PSL Due To Safety Concerns
Pakistani cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to kick off but behind the scenes, uncertainty is growing, especially for Bangladeshi cricketers.

The Bangladesh government is keeping a close watch on the situation in Pakistan and has made it clear that player safety comes first. If there is any serious threat, Bangladeshi cricketers may not be allowed to participate in the tournament.
Currently, six players from Bangladesh – Mustafizur Rahman and Parvez Hossain Emon (both with Lahore Qalandars), along with Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Rishad Hossain (all with Peshawar Zalmi), have received No Objection Certificates from the Bangladesh Cricket Board to play in the PSL.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on March 26. However, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently announced changes: matches will be limited to just two venues and initial games will be held without spectators. While he mentioned fuel shortages linked to tensions in West Asia, there are also concerns about instability near Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan.
Bangladesh’s state minister for youth and sports, Aminul Haque, emphasised that no risks will be taken. He explained that the government will rely on updates from the cricket board and national security agencies before making a final call. If the BCB confirms that conditions are safe, the government is open to allowing players to go.
At the same time, the BCB plans to seek official government approval before giving players the green light to travel. The decision will depend on careful coordination between both the sides.

Adding to the uncertainty, some international players are already reconsidering their participation. Reports suggest that security concerns have been raised in Australia, while players like Dasun Shanaka and Blessing Muzarabani have opted out, though they were also offered more attractive deals in the IPL.
As the PSL approaches, all eyes are now on whether Bangladesh will take the risk or pull its players out at the last moment.
