Oscars 2026 Winners List – Michael B. Jordan Named Best Actor, Jessie Buckley Claims Best Actress

Hollywood’s biggest celebration of cinema returned in grand style as the 98^th Academy Awards brought together some of the biggest names in the film industry. Held at the famous Dolby Theatre, the star-studded event was hosted by Conan O’Brien for the second year in a row. The night was filled with glamour, emotional speeches and several historic achievements that made it one of the most memorable Oscar ceremonies in recent years.

One of the biggest highlights of the night was the success of the film Sinners. Actor Michael B. Jordan won the Best Actor award for his powerful performance in the movie. The film also saw major recognition behind the camera. Director Ryan Coogler won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, while composer Ludwig Göransson took home the award for Best Original Score. Cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw made history during the ceremony by becoming the first woman ever to win the Oscar for Best Cinematography.

Another film that dominated the evening was One Battle After Another. The movie brought major success for filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, who won his first ever Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He later returned to the stage to receive the Best Director award as well. The film continued its winning streak by claiming Best Film Editing and the night’s biggest prize, Best Picture, making it one of the most celebrated films of the ceremony.

In the acting categories, Jessie Buckley delivered a landmark moment by winning Best Actress for her role in Hamnet. With this win, she became the first Irish performer to receive the honour in that category. Amy Madigan secured the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Weapons. Meanwhile, veteran actor Sean Penn won Best Supporting Actor for One Battle After Another. The victory marked his third Oscar, although he was not present at the ceremony to accept it.

Animation also had a big moment at the awards. The film KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature, while its song “Golden” achieved a major milestone by becoming the first K-pop track ever to win the Oscar for Best Original Song.

This year’s Oscars also introduced a brand-new category – Best Casting, the first new addition since Best Animated Feature was introduced in 2002. Cassandra Kulukundis won the first ever award in this category for her work on One Battle After Another.

Several well-known celebrities appeared on stage as presenters during the ceremony. These included past Oscar winners Mikey Madison, Adrien Brody, Kieran Culkin and Zoe Saldaña. Other stars such as Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman, Pedro Pascal and Channing Tatum also took part in presenting awards.

The ceremony also included a heartfelt tribute segment remembering several industry legends who passed away over the past year, including Rob Reiner, Robert Redford, Diane Keaton and Catherine O’Hara.
