When Fakhar Zaman passed the ball to Haris Rauf, the umpire stepped in and asked for it. What followed was confusion, with officials eventually calling in the fourth umpire to replace the ball. After inspection, it was decided that the ball’s condition had been altered, leading to a five-run penalty against Lahore Qalandars.

At that crucial moment, Lahore were defending just 14 runs in the final over and seemed to have the game under control, especially with five wickets already down. But the penalty changed everything. The target was reduced to just 9 runs, making the chase much easier for Karachi Kings.

Haris Rauf started well by dismissing Khushdil Shah on the first ball. However, things quickly slipped out of his hands. He gave away 11 runs in the next two deliveries, including a wide, as Abbas Afridi smashed a boundary and a six to secure a dramatic four-wicket win for Karachi.

After the match, Shaheen Afridi said that the team was not fully aware of what exactly happened and would review the situation later but accepted that the penalty had already impacted the result.

With incidents like these piling up, the PSL 2026 is facing tough questions both on and off the field.
