Shardul Thakur Opens Up On Horrible Experience Team India Faced During 2020-21 Australia Tour
The Indian cricket team is one of the strongest teams of the world; earlier it was said that the Indian team wins matches (especially test matches) only in India but now it doesn’t hold true as they have started winning overseas as well.
If we talk about overseas victories, then we just can’t afford to miss the 2020-21 Australian tour in which India made a great comeback after losing the first test match at Adelaide. India won that series by 2-1 despite the fact that Virat Kohli returned to India after the first match and the Indian camp faced a lot of injuries during that period.
The Indian cricketer Shardul Thakur was also a part of the Indian squad that won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21. Recently he opened up on that tour and he didn’t hesitate in talking about the problems which were faced by the Indian squad.
Shardul Thakur said that they were treated in a horrible manner, the housekeeping staff was not available for 4-5 days, he also slammed the then Aussie skipper Tim Paine for lying in front of the media and also talked about the rude behaviour and attitude of Governor of Queensland who bluntly said that the Indian team is more than welcome not to come in their state if they don’t want to follow the COVID-19 protocols.
Shardul Thakur said, “The way they treated us was very horrible. For four or five days, there would be no housekeeping service in the hotel. If you wanted to change the bedsheets, you would have to walk up five floors when you’re tired.”
Shardul slammed Tim Paine and stated, “I heard some interview from Tim Paine. That man was absolutely lying, he was just saving himself by making up things in the media, and covering up that ‘we didn’t put any pressure on Indian team and gave them whatever they wanted’. But I know the truth.”
He credited Ravi Shashtri and the stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane for fighting with the Cricket Australia for getting whatever they needed. Shardul said, “Virat (Kohli) had left – and Ajinkya Rahane and Ravi Shastri were regularly fighting with Cricket Australia to give us what we wanted.”
India will be touring Australia later this year for playing a 5-match series under the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and it will be a great contest to watch.
