Rinku Singh Aims For Test Cricket Spot In Team India, Says, “Bahut Pasand Hai Laal Ball Khelna”
The young Indian cricketer Rinku Singh has expressed his aspiration to represent the country in the longest format of the game. The left-handed batsman, who debuted for India last year in a T20I match against Ireland, emphasized his passion for red-ball cricket and hopes to secure an opportunity to represent India in the five-day format in the future.
In a media interaction, Rinku Singh said that he wants to play all three formats of the game as he enjoys test cricket immensely. He further added that his batting average in red-ball cricket is 55 and he really loves playing with the red ball. Rinku Singh further said that it’s a lot of fun for him, test cricket is very significant. He added that everyone plays white-ball cricket, but playing Test cricket is a big deal nowadays and this is why he also wants to play.
Representing Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket, Rinku has played 47 first-class matches so far, amassing 3173 runs at an impressive average of 54.70. The 26-year-old, who was part of the India A squad for the second four-day match against England A earlier this year, will miss the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024, scheduled to begin on September 5. He was not selected in any of the four squads announced by the BCCI on August 14.
Rinku also addressed his disappointment over missing a spot in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad as he was kept as a reserve player. Rinku Singh said that just like every other player, he also dreams to play for the country in the World Cup. He added that though he performed well for the nation, the team selection is not something which is in his control.
Rinku Singh said in a funny mood that things may have been different if the selectors had watched his bowling. Talking about missing the chance to play in the T20 World Cup 2024, Rinku Singh said that the decision was made by the selectors most probably to find the right team combination and he is totally fine with it. He said that he will work harder and will play the World Cup next time.
We are sure that Rinku Singh will certainly play the next T20 World Cup for the country, what do you say?
