This New Report Exposes False Claim Of BCCI Source Over Non-Selection Of Sarfaraz Khan

The matter related to non-selection of the young Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan in the 16-member squad for the West Indies tour is making headlines all over media and social media platforms as well. Many former Indian cricketers have criticized the selectors for overlooking Sarfaraz Khan who has performed in an exemplary manner in the last three seasons of Ranji Trophy.

Sarfaraz Khan has scored 900 runs in successive seasons of Ranji Trophy and his average is the second best after Don Bradman in the first class cricket.

Recently, a BCCI official on the condition of anonymity revealed that the reasons behind non-selection of Sarfaraz Khan are non-cricketing and the selectors are not fools that they don’t select a player who has scored 900 runs in successive seasons. The source further states that the first reason is Sarfaraz Khan’s fitness which is not at par with international standards and the second reason is his on-field conduct – the gesture that he made after scoring a century (that was targeted at a selector present in the stadium) and he said some things as well.

However, the Mumbai cricket fraternity has strongly denied the allegations regarding the on-field conduct of Sarfaraz Khan. A source close to Sarfaraz Khan stated that the claim regarding the gesture which was meant for taking a jibe at a selector is completely wrong as Sarfaraz Khan’s celebration gesture was meant for his teammates and coach because he brought them out of a tensed situation and the selector who was present in the stadium was Salik Ankola and not Chetan Sharma.

There were some reports as per which the coach of Madhya Pradesh team, Chandrakant Pandit was upset with Sarfaraz Khan’s behaviour and he expressed his dissatisfaction but the source close to the young cricketer rebuked all such claims by saying that Pandit knows Sarfaraz from the age of 14 and he (Pandit) treats him like his own son because of which Pandit can never be angry with Sarfaraz Khan.
