Once Friends Teammates Are Now Colleagues Ashwin On Team Indias Reality After WTC Final Snub

The decision of the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid of not playing Ravichandran Ashwin in the WTC finals which was played against Australia didn’t go well with majority of the cricket fans and former Indian cricketers as well. It was not easy for R Ashwin to get over this snub as he is the number one test bowler of the world and he certainly played an important role in taking India to the finals of the WTC. The decision of leaving out Ashwin from the squad shocked many including former Aussie cricketer Ricky Ponting considering the fact that the Australian team has a good number of left-handed batters.

During an interview when Ashwin was asked whether he had a candid conversation with any other Indian cricketer, Ashwin’s answer shows the reality of the Indian team as he states that it’s deep toxic. He further says that there is a huge competition among the cricketers for each slot in the team because of which the friendship has taken a back seat in the Indian squad.

He elaborated by saying that there was a time when all the teammates used to be friends but we are living in an era when everybody is a colleague. He says that in the present times, everybody wants to get ahead of the other person sitting left or right to him because of which nobody has the time to talk to the other person.

R Ashwin further says that he believes cricket gets better when a cricketer understands other cricketer’s journey and technique and vice-versa but this doesn’t happen now; nobody will come to help you as it has become a lonely journey now. He says that the cricketers can get professional help but in the process, we forget that cricket is mainly a self-taught game.

The Indian spinner is currently leading Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023.
