In 2009, she launched her fashion label, House of Masaba. Known for bold prints and unique designs, the brand quickly caught attention. Over the years, it grew steadily and carved a strong space in the fashion industry.

Then came the year 2020. The pandemic hit businesses hard and House of Masaba was no exception. Investors warned her that the brand had barely three months left. She was told it would shut down by July 2020. Stores were closed, employees had to be let go and financial support was pulled back. At her lowest point, Masaba didn’t even have ₹12,000 to pay her cook. With only ₹2 lakh left, she cut losses, started making masks and held on with determination.

Just when things seemed impossible, opportunity knocked. Masaba Masaba premiered on Netflix in August 2020. The show changed everything. Within hours of its release, her website recorded massive sales. New customers discovered her brand and old ones returned. House of Masaba was back on its feet.

In 2022, she expanded into beauty with Lovechild, offering makeup, fragrances and body care products. In less than three years, the brand grew into a major player, reporting ₹116 crore in annual revenue as of March 31, 2025. By August 31, 2025, it employed 201 people and ranked 49th among 828 competitors.

Masaba Gupta’s journey is proof that resilience, courage and self-belief can turn even the toughest setbacks into powerful comebacks.
