The former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan who is also called Gabbar by his fans had a great career as he was not only counted among one of the most aggressive batters but also known to be one of the best openers.

Recently Shikhar Dhawan reflected on the early challenges of his career during a heartfelt event organised by the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation. Engaging with young cricketers from various NGOs, Dhawan shared how his cricket journey began with humble efforts, including performing tasks like rolling the pitch and serving tea to coaches, while hoping for a brief chance to bat. His dedication and persistence eventually led him to international cricket stardom.

The foundation event highlighted Dhawan’s commitment to supporting underprivileged children, both materially and morally, emphasising the importance of perseverance and hard work. His rise from modest beginning to becoming a celebrated figure in Indian cricket serves as a powerful inspiration for the young audience.

Shikhar Dhawan, who debuted internationally in 2010, is known for his aggressive batting style and charismatic presence. Throughout his 13 years long career, he played 34 Test matches, 167 One-Day Internationals and 68 T20 Internationals, amassing significant runs across formats. His domestic success in the Indian Premier League saw him representing teams like Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Punjab, scoring over 6700 runs with 2 centuries and 51 half-centuries.

In August 2024, after an illustrious career, Shikhar Dhawan officially announced his retirement from all the formats of international cricket, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and achievement.
