R Ashwin suggested that discussions about excluding Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli were unnecessary. He stressed that experienced batters are crucial in demanding conditions and that players of their stature can bring stability and confidence to the team in a global event.

The former spinner also urged selectors and team management to make a clear decision regarding the duo’s future as early as possible. According to him, if Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are part of India’s plans for the 2027 World Cup, they should be given complete backing and confidence over the next year.

Ashwin believes that delaying such decisions could lead to repeated speculation whenever either player goes through a brief dip in form, creating unnecessary pressure ahead of an important tournament.
