“Let Him Play Ashwin & Jadeja,” People React As Michael Vaughan Compares Harry Brook To Joe Root
The England test cricket team has become a force to reckon with after the former New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum has joined it as the head coach and the captaincy of the team was handed over to Ben Stokes. The change in batting approach of the squad resulted in the change of the fortunes as well and now England has become a team which plays aggressive and competitive brand of cricket.
The English test team is currently in New Zealand where it is playing two-match test series in which it is already leading by 1-0. As of now, the English squad is also in a strong position in the second test match that is being played at Basin Reserve, Wellington, New Zealand as it has scored 435/8 in its first innings with the help of century knocks of Joe Root (153 runs not out, 224 balls, 10 fours & 3 sixes) and Harry Brook (186 runs, 176 balls, 24 fours & 5 sixes). On the other hand, the hosts are struggling at the score of 138/7 by the end of the day 2 and the England team seems to be in a pretty strong position to win this match as well.
The former English cricketer Michael Vaughan is very impressed with the performance of the English cricket team, especially with the performance of young cricketer Harry Brook. The 24 years old cricketer made his debut in test matches and T20Is last year while in ODIs, he debuted in 2023. Till date, Harry has played 5 test matches, 3 ODIs and 20 T20Is in which he has scored 623 runs, 86 runs and 372 runs, respectively.
Michael Vaughan took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and made a tweet in which he compared Joe Root with Harry Brook. He wrote, “For the last 10 yrs all kids have wanted to Bat and be like Joe Root .. For the next 10 yrs they will all want to Bat like Harry Brook .. #NZvENG”

Soon Twitterati gets into action and makes the former cricketer realize that he is comparing a young cricketer with an experienced cricketer who has proven himself time and again. Here are some selected reactions:
Na..
Harry should still prove on Indian pitches,if he can play spin better or noton other hand Root is proven batter and plays well on spin pitches— Hector (@HECTORS_TroY) February 24, 2023
Certainly talented, but let him complete 1k runs atleast.
Once upon a time even in IND every child wanted be Vinod Kambli.
So, have some patience before judging any player.— Advocate Drishti Thakkar (@Populardrishti) February 24, 2023
Vinod Kambli started this well and we all saw where that went. Let’s not put too much pressure on him. The future of the big teams is Green, Gill, Brook etc

Provided he continues this on Indian pitches

Harry Brook is in excellent touch and appears an exceptional talent but too soon to make this call. Vinod Kambli was very close to him after 9 innings. Kids wanted to be Sachin and not Kambli.

wow, few games and Brook is above Root…. another couple of games, above Bradman then
Its a long way to go to compare fab 4 with anyone else….— Narayanan (@Narayan22538287) February 24, 2023
He is just 6 matches old Mr. Vaughan. Don't you think it's too early for this statement. Let him be 20-25 matches old and then you can say this. No doubt he is fantastic batter but will have to wait for couple of years.

Exciting talent for sure but should we just jump the gun yet. Let him go around the world for a couple of years & then take a call Root has proved himself all around, hope this lad lives up to it & forms his own legacy. The world has taken note for now

As far as Joe Root is concerned, he made his debut in 2012 and since then, he has played 128 test matches, 158 ODIs and 32 T20Is in which he has scored 10700 runs (28 centuries & 56 fifties), 6207 runs (16 hundred & 36 fifties) and 893 runs (5 fifties), respectively.
Do you also feel that Michael Vaughan should have waited a little before making this statement? What are your thoughts in this connection?
