Indians Hit Back At Aussie Media For Claiming DRS Was Doctored After Usman Khawaja’s Dismissal
The Indian cricket team has managed to surpass the first innings total of the Australian team in the ongoing first test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 which is being played at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, thanks to the superb century by the skipper Rohit Sharma who is leading his team from the front.
Earlier, Australia won the toss and decided to bat first but it had a disastrous start as both the openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja got out on the score of 1-1 each and Australia was 2/2 by the third over of its innings.
While David Warner was clean bowled by Mohammed Shami, it was Mohammed Siraj who dismissed Usman Khawaja but a famous Australian sports channel tried to make Usman’s dismissal controversial by alleging that DRS was wrong.
The Australian batter Usman Khawaja got completely beaten by a delivery of Mohammed Siraj, the ball pitched pretty close to outside leg stump before it hit the pads of the batter and the on-field umpire gave his decision in the favor of the batter. Rohit Sharma decided to take DRS and the decision of the umpire was overturned as it was clear that the ball would have hit the stumps.
Here is the tweet made by the media house which believed that DRS was doctored and Usman Khawaja should have stayed on the crease. The photo was captioned as,
“‘Ball tracker broken? ’
Aussies left stunned just minutes into first Test by ‘interesting’ DRS moment >> https://bit.ly/3XiEyqs”

Not just Indian cricket fans but even some Australian cricket lovers also said that it is a clear dismissal and DRS hasn’t been doctored.

Ball missed the off stump, but the stump deliberately uprooted itself and dismissed Warner. pic.twitter.com/7hc3WFyTGB

First Ten overs and already so much of banter. I am loving it. Test cricket is best.

What’s the confusion? Tracker shows more than half of the ball pitching in line. Tough ball for Khawaja to play, sure. Understandable original decision by the umpire, but also fair review. I don’t know, am I missing something?

Don't cook controversies now. Just admit that Siraj bowled a good ball, and move on with focusing on the match.
