The Mumbai Traffic Police received a WhatsApp message on Thursday, demanding ₹5 crore from Bollywood actor Salman Khan to settle an ongoing enmity with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Meanwhile, a significant breakthrough in the case occurred when Navi Mumbai police arrested a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang linked to a plot to k*ll Salman Khan. The suspect, identified as Sukha alias Sukhbir Balbir Singh, was apprehended from Panipat, Haryana, on Wednesday by the Panvel Town police.
According to official reports, Sukhbir Singh had given a contract to Bishnoi gang members to eliminate Salman Khan. Sukhbir Singh maintained communication with his handler Dogar based in Pakistan. The gang had planned to use sophisticated firearms, including AK-47s, M16s and AK92s, allegedly sourced from Pakistan, to carry out the plot.
In April 2023, Navi Mumbai police had filed a case against 18 identified individuals and others from the Bishnoi gang for conspiring to k*ll Salman Khan. This followed a shooting incident outside the actor’s Bandra residence, linked to the gang.
Investigators revealed that Lawrence Bishnoi’s and Sampat Nehra’s gangs had deployed 60 to 70 members to monitor Salman Khan’s movements closely. The gang reportedly carried out reconnaissance at various locations, including the actor’s Bandra residence, Panvel farmhouse and film shooting spots. There was also an alleged plan to use minors as sharpshooters, with firearms obtained from Pakistan.
This is not the first time Salman Khan has been targeted. The charge sheet filed by Mumbai police mentions a shooting incident outside his residence, which is believed to be orchestrated by the Bishnoi gang. In January 2024, two unidentified individuals attempted to trespass into his farmhouse using fake identities. Further back in 2022, a threatening letter was found near his building and in March 2023, Salman Khan received a threatening email from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Authorities continue to investigate the threats and the involvement of the Bishnoi gang in the multiple attempts on Salman Khan’s life. Security remains tight as the police work to ensure the actor’s safety.
