Shastri & Gavaskar Take A Funny Dig At Virat & Gambhir’s Hug After Ugly Spat In IPL 2023
There was a lot of hype regarding the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders as Gautam Gambhir has returned to his old franchise but in the new role of a mentor.
If you don’t remember, let us remind you of the brawl that took place between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir in a match between RCB and Lucknow Super Giants which was played at Lucknow in the IPL 2023. Gautam Gambhir was the mentor of LSG at that time and that was not the first time that both the cricketers had a fight with each other.
Earlier in the IPL 2013 when Gautam Gambhir was the skipper of KKR, they both got engaged in an ugly spat after Virat Kohli got out and many people were of the opinion that in the match between RCB and KKR, we might once again get to see the tempers soaring high as both Kohli and Gambhir are aggressive and competitive.
However surprisingly, nothing like that happened; in fact during the strategic break, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli were seen hugging each other. While it seems that both the players decided to bury the hatchet, the commentators Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar had some fun banter after watching Gambhir and Kohli behaving in such a good manner.
Whereas Ravi Shastri suggested that the IPL franchise KKR should get a Fair Play award for the hug between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli, the former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar suggested that not just Fair Play, KKR should be awarded with Oscars as well.

As far as the match is concerned, KKR won the game easily by 7 wickets, with 19 balls left in their innings.
RCB batted first at their home turf of M. Chinnaswamy stadium, Bengaluru and put up a total of 182/6 with the help of Virat Kohli’s brilliant knock of 83 runs not out but KKR’s batting line-up was too good for the RCB bowlers.
Sunil Narine smashed 47 runs of 22 balls and then Venkatesh Iyer scored a fifty to ease the chase. The skipper Shreyas Iyer (39*) ensured that he remains till the end and takes his team home as winner.
Sunil Narine was adjudged as the Player of the Match for this superb all-round performance.
