“Umran Can Break Shoaib Akhtar’s Record,” Fans React As Umran Bowled 155 KMPH To Dismiss SL Skipper
The Indian cricket team started the New Year 2023 with a blast as it defeated Sri Lanka in the first T20I of 3-match series, the game was played yesterday at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. While Indian batters put up a good total of 162/5 on the score card after being put to bat first, the Indian bowlers also performed pretty well especially Shivam Mavi who ended his debut match with fantastic figures of 4/22 in 4 overs.
Well, the Internet is also busy talking about the pace sensation Umran Malik who took 2 wickets but what made people go crazy is the fact that he bowled a delivery at the speed of 155km/hr and on the same delivery, he dismissed the Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka. The dismissal of Dasun Shanaka was the turning point of the game as he was playing quite well at the score of 45 runs (27 balls, 3 fours & 3 sixes) and if he had remained on the crease, it would have been difficult for the Indian side to win the game.
Many online users are of the opinion that Umran Malik may break the record of former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar of bowling the fastest delivery at the speed of 161.3 km/h, provided he can bowl on the Australian pitches because they are fast and conducive for pace bowling.

As far as the match is concerned, India didn’t get off to a good start as Shubman Gill got out at the score of 7 and the two batters who came after him – Suryakumar Yadav (7) and Sanju Samson (5) also failed in making any impact with bat. However, Ishan Kishan played a good knock of 37 runs (29 balls, 3 fours & 2 sixes) and stabilized the innings along with skipper Hardik Pandya (29 runs, 27 balls, 4 fours). While Axar Patel also played a useful knock of 31 runs not out (20 balls, 3 fours, 1six), the highest scorer for the Indian team was Deepak Hooda who remained unbeaten at the score of 41 runs (23 balls, 1 four & 4 sixes).
In response to India’s 162/5, Sri Lanka fought till the end but fell short by just 2 runs. Deepak Hooda was adjudged as the Player of the Match and now both the teams will face each other in the 2nd T20I which will be played tomorrow (05.01.2023) at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
