Why Sanjay Dutt Left Welcome To The Jungle, Director Finally Breaks Silence & Tells The Truth

After months of speculation surrounding the cast of Welcome To The Jungle, director Ahmed Khan has finally addressed one of the biggest questions about the film — why Sanjay Dutt was missing despite being announced as part of the project. The filmmaker also shared how the actor helped the team after deciding to leave, while several other actors also exited the film for different reasons.

Welcome To The Jungle was announced with a massive ensemble featuring more than 30 actors. However, when the film was released, fans noticed that a few names originally associated with the project, including Sanjay Dutt, Sharib Hashmi, Rahul Dev and singer-rapper Mika Singh, were no longer part of the final cast.

Putting an end to rumours of any disagreement, Ahmed Khan clarified that Sanjay Dutt’s exit had nothing to do with creative differences or fallout. According to the director, the actor had loved the script and was excited to be part of the film because many of his close friends from the industry, including Jackie Shroff and Akshay Kumar, were already on board. Ahmed Khan revealed that they had even filmed a few scenes with Sanjay Dutt before unforeseen scheduling issues forced him to step away.

The filmmaker explained that Sanjay Dutt also had to travel to the US for medical treatment, making it impossible to adjust the shooting schedule of such a large cast. Since coordinating the dates of more than 30 actors was extremely difficult, the production moved ahead without him.

Ahmed Khan also revealed that Sanjay Dutt personally helped the makers find a solution after exiting the film. According to the director, the actor contacted Suniel Shetty and suggested that he take over the role originally meant for him. Sanjay also requested Jackie Shroff to play the character that had initially been assigned to Suniel Shetty. Ahmed Khan praised the actor for ensuring that his absence did not create problems for the production and said the team would always remain grateful for his support.

Sanjay Dutt was not the only actor to leave the project. Sharib Hashmi also exited the film because the shooting schedule changed. Speaking to a leading publication, the actor said he had signed the project when there was no clash with any other work. However, delays in filming meant that the new dates overlapped with The Family Man Season 3, forcing him to opt out.

Rahul Dev also cited scheduling conflicts after committing to Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis. Meanwhile, Inaamulhaq shared that scheduling played a role in his exit but he also had doubts about his character, saying he was unsure about the kind of world his role belonged to. Singer-rapper Mika Singh was initially expected to feature in the film as well, although the reason behind his departure has not been revealed.

Despite multiple cast changes, Welcome To The Jungle boasts an impressive lineup featuring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Farida Jalal, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav in key roles. The film has also crossed the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide, making it a strong performer at the box office.
