Esha Deol Reveals Hema Malini’s Advice After She Got Trolled & Compared With Her Mother

Esha Deol, the eldest daughter of veteran actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini, followed her parents’ footsteps by pursuing a career in acting. However, her path wasn’t smooth or without challenges as she frequently found herself getting compared to her iconic parents, particularly her mother. In a recent interview, the 42 years old actress who made her debut with “Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe” spoke about how her mother’s advice helped her navigate the pressures of the film industry.

During a conversation with an entertainment portal, Esha was asked about the guidance she received from her famous parents. She explained that they rarely offered advice unless she asked for it. She said that they never forced any advice on her, in fact they offered their input only when she asked them after facing different situations.

Esha stated that people started comparing her with her mother just after the first movie and when she asked her mother about it, the veteran actress Hema Malini told her that it is a part of her journey and she would need to snub it and move forward. Hema Malini told Esha that she is working in Bollywood because this is what she loves to do and if she allows the comparisons to affect her, she won’t be able to work.

Esha took that advice to heart, choosing to focus on her own path instead of being weighed down by constant comparisons.

This wasn’t the first time that Esha has addressed the issue of comparison with her mother. In a previous interview with Zoom, she shared how the pressure intensified after her debut film and she was even body-shamed for her appearance.

Esha said that criticism started just after the release of her movie and she, who was a newcomer was getting compared to her mother, an actress who has worked in more than 200 movies. She added that remarks were made on body fat, she was just 18 yrs of age and had chubby cheeks but she feels that they suited the roles that she did at that time.

Esha’s bold and dynamic image became widely recognized after her performance in the hit song “Dhoom Machale” from the 2004 film “Dhoom”. Despite the success of the film and her subsequent roles in movies like “Dus”, “LOC: Kargil”, “Yuva” and “No Entry”, Esha struggled to leave a lasting mark in Bollywood. Recently, she appeared in the web series “Hunter: Tootega Nahi Todega”, marking her comeback.
