Gavaskar Says Rohit Sharma Doesn’t Get Credit For Captaincy Which Dhoni Gets Every Time
The Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma is the most successful skipper of the IPL as under his captaincy, Mumbai Indians has won the league five times and he will try his best to take his team to the finals this time as well by defeating Gujarat Titans in the match which will be played today at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
However, the former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar feels that Rohit Sharma is an underrated skipper and in order to prove his statement correct, Gavaskar not only gave the example of the match which was played between MI and Lucknow Super Giants but he also gave a reference to the second most successful skipper of the IPL, i.e., MS Dhoni. There is no denying the fact that MS Dhoni is a very smart cricketer and a great strategist but Rohit Sharma has also proved himself as a good skipper by leading his team to 5 IPL title wins.
Little Master states that Rohit Sharma is an underrated skipper and he gave an example for that, he said that Akash Madhwal dismissed Ayush Badoni while bowling over the wicket but he dismissed left-handed batter Nicholas Pooran by bowling round the wicket. Sunil Gavaskar says that not many bowlers will choose to do that, if they have got rhythm while bowling over the wicket, then they will go with it, even if the batter is left hander as they will try to take ball away from the left-handed batter but Madhwal bowled a beautiful delivery round the wicket to dismiss Pooran.
Here is the video which will make it easy for you to understand what Sunil Gavaskar wants to say as Akash Madhwal took these two wickets on the consecutive deliveries of the 10th over of the LSG innings:

Sunil Gavaskar further says that if the team had been CSK and the skipper had been Dhoni, then everyone would have started saying that Dhoni planned Pooran’s dismissal and this is what happens in reality to a great extent. He further said that he wanted to say Rohit Sharma should get the credit for telling Akash Madhwal to bowl round the wicket.
Sunil Gavaskar further praises Rohit Sharma for using a batter Nehal Wadhera as an impact player in the match against LSG, especially when majority of the teams don’t use batters as an impact player while batting first. Little Master says that Rohit Sharma should be given credit for this decision as well.
Let’s see whether MI will meet CSK in the finals or it will the defending champions GT which will take on CSK in the IPL 2023 finals?
