“His Stint Hasn’t Been Very Successful,” Rajkumar Sharma On Rahul Dravid As India’s Head Coach

The Indian cricket team is certainly not going through a good phase at the moment as it may have achieved some success in bilateral series against various countries but it had a very disappointing run in the multi-nation events. First, the Indian squad got knocked out from the Asia Cup 2022 and later on, it suffered a humiliating defeat by 10 wickets in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 against England. If this was not enough, team India lost the first ODI of the ongoing 3-match series against Bangladesh by 1 wicket which has further hurt Indian cricket fans in a big manner.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sacked the selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma after India got knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2022 and as per reports, the BCCI is thinking of making substantial changes in the system after India’s defeat against Bangladesh.

Both the Indian head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma are getting criticized for the experimentation they have done in the recent past as they have failed in achieving results in the multi-nation events.

Rajkumar Sharma, the childhood coach of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, has opened up on Rahul Dravid’s performance as the team’s head coach and he doesn’t feel that Rahul Dravid has failed as the head coach but his planning and some of his experiments haven’t given good results and his stint hasn’t been a successful one. Sharma states that though most of the tactics of Rahul Dravid have failed, still blaming only the coach is wrong.

The former Indian cricketer Saba Karim also says that India has certainly gone down in white ball cricket because we haven’t won a single ICC trophy since 2013 and the problem is not just with the national team but with domestic set-up as well because it has failed in providing required quality of players. Saba Karim has advised the BCCI to form a committee of former cricketers who can advise in regard to the restructuring of the Indian cricket system.

The second ODI between India and Bangladesh is being played at Sher-E-Bangla stadium, Mirpur, and Bangladesh is currently batting after winning the toss. By the time this article was written, Bangladesh was 227/7 in 46.5 overs with Mehidy Hasan (66) and Nasum Ahmed (9) on the crease.

India needs to win both the remaining matches if it wants to win the series as the hosts are leading by 1-0.

We wish luck to team India!
