Wriddhiman Saha Opens Up On Journalist Row, Tells Why He Didn’t Reveal His Name Initially
The Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha brought a storm in the Indian cricket circles when in the month of February, he revealed that he had been threatened by a famous sports journalist for not giving an interview. Saha posted the screenshots of his WhatsApp chat with the journalist on the micro-blogging site Twitter after which many people from the cricket fraternity along with cricket fans came in support of the Bengal cricketer and asked him to reveal the journalist’s name.
For a long time, Wriddhiman Saha refused to disclose his name but he gave all the details after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stepped in this matter. That sports journalist is Boria Majumdar and the BCCI has banned him from getting member of press accreditation for any of the cricket matches played in India whether domestic or international. The BCCI has also banned Majumdar for two years from taking interview of any registered player and he won’t be allowed to use any BCCI or association owned facility too.
Recently, Wriddhiman Saha gave an interview in which he opened up on this episode and stated that his sole purpose was to let the world know that there are this type of journalists who can to go to such an extent for an interview. He added that later on, he came to know that Boria Majumdar had done it earlier as well and this is why the BCCI punished him.
When Wriddhiman Saha was asked as to why he didn’t reveal the name of the journalist in the beginning, he said that earlier he chose not to tell the name because everyone has their own careers but how long one can keep mum if someone doesn’t even have regret for what he has done.
Meanwhile, the Bengal player had a terrific outing in the IPL 2022 as he was the part of Gujarat Titans which won the IPL title in their debut season under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. Wriddhiman Saha opened the innings for GT with Shubman Gill and the wicketkeeper-batsman scored 317 runs in 11 matches which also included 3 half-centuries.
