One of the most awaited test series, i.e., the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is going to start from tomorrow and just ahead of the first test which will be played at Perth, Jasprit Bumrah addressed a press conference in which he spoke on many issues.

India’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah has shown confidence in Virat Kohli’s ability to deliver in the upcoming five-match Test series against Australia, starting in Perth. Speaking during a pre-match press conference, Bumrah praised Kohli’s stature as one of the greats of the game and emphasised the batter’s confidence going into the series.

Bumrah stated that Virat is one of the leaders of the Indian team, adding that he debuted under Virat Kohli and he won’t be saying anything in regard to Virat Kohli as a batter. Jasprit Bumrah further said that Virat is one of the greats and the confidence that he has currently is just incredible and he doesn’t want to jinx it by saying anything else.

Despite Kohli’s lean patch where he managed just 93 runs across six innings in the recent Test series against New Zealand, his stellar record of over 1300 runs in 13 Tests in Australia makes him a key player in India’s campaign.

As he prepares to lead India for the second time in Test cricket, Bumrah shared insights into his leadership approach, distancing himself from replicating the styles of Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli.

While talking about his captaincy style, Jasprit Bumrah stated that one has to find his own way. He added that both Virat and Rohit are very successful skippers but he has always preferred to depend on his own instincts instead of any copybook plan whether it is bowling or captaincy. He talked about his adaptability, highlighting his ability to manage his workload effectively as a captain and a bowler.
