Omi Vaidya Shares Experience Of Working In 3 Idiots, Praises Aamir Khan For This Reason

“3 Idiots”, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, is one of the most loved movies of Aamir Khan and while the film was based on the lives of three friends played by Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, actor Omi Vaidya also played an important and unforgettable role in the flick.

Omi Vaidya portrayed the character of Chatur Ramalingam and recently, he opened up on the film’s impact on his career and his experience of working with Aamir Khan. While Omi has explored diverse roles and made his directorial debut, his portrayal in the 2009 blockbuster remains a highlight of his journey in Bollywood.

In an interview, Omi praised Aamir Khan’s commitment to his craft, describing him as a collaborative force on the set of “3 Idiots”.

Omi Vaidya said that when he worked with Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood, it wasn’t just the things which were told to him by Aamir that stood out, it was also how Aamir worked in the movie. He highlighted Aamir’s active involvement in the filmmaking process, even in scenes where he wasn’t performing. Omi said that Aamir Khan offered little suggestions and he was also open to suggestions because of which the environment was quite productive and creative.

Omi admired Aamir’s focus on making every scene better, not just for himself but for the entire team, showcasing the actor’s dedication to storytelling.

Reflecting on the legacy of “3 Idiots”, Omi said that the film was more than just a career milestone for him. He further stated that the movie not only boosted his career but also made him understand the power of humour and storytelling. Omi fondly recalled the unparalleled energy and teamwork on set, adding that while the cast had a lot of fun during production, none of them anticipated the film’s massive cultural impact.

While Omi continues to be celebrated for his role in “3 Idiots”, he has moved on to other creative ventures. His latest film “American Warrior” directed by Gustavo Martin Benites recently premiered at the 55^th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The film adds another dimension to Omi’s evolving career, showcasing his versatility as an artist.
