40 Girls Including Minors Allegedly Raped, Drugged & Tortured In Govt Run Shelter Home
Crimes against females are on an increasing pace and a shameful incident that took place in a state-run shelter home in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, has left the nation in a state of shock and fury.
The shelter home called Balika Grih has been in news for all the wrong reasons as 40 girls including minors have allegedly been raped and tormented here. Sewa Sankalp Evam Vikas Samiti, an NGO, a child welfare committee member Vineet Kumar and a reporter Brajesh Thakur run the shelter home.
Balika Grih’s grounds were dug on July 23 to search for the body of a girl whom people doubted to have been killed after she had a dispute with workers of the shelter home. The body couldn’t be recovered in digging; however as reported by ANI, soil sample would be examined by the forensic department.

Brijesh had entered into an agreement with the state social welfare department for administering Balika Grih that is sealed by cops now. Moreover, police has detained the co-owners along with eight more people with regard to the case.
When an inmate informed cops of a dead body being buried in the ground in relation to sexual atrocities faced by inmates, an investigation as well as digging started. As per ANI, Priya Rani Gupta, Executive Magistrate (Eastern), and senior officers were present at the time of excavation.

A medical test of 21 girls rescued from Balika Grih on May 21 revealed that 16 of them including a 7 years old girl had been sexually active.
Subsequently, a report confirmed that 34 out of 42 girls had been raped.
As per News18, the rape survivors were so traumatised mentally that they made an attempt of taking their lives by inflicting injuries. Their agony was not limited to rape or harassment as marks of torture and burns are found in entire body that gives an indication of extreme atrocity. That’s not all! Injection marks are also seen on their skin which further strengthens the probability of the girls being drugged as well.
On Sunday, CBI filed an FIR in this case as it has taken it over from the Bihar police. Earlier on July 28, Bihar police submitted a charge sheet of 16 pages in the POCSO court that has statement of 32 victims.
Some really very disturbing details have been revealed in the charge sheet. It states that the shelter home was run like a brothel and there was one room that acted like an operation theatre and girls were forcefully aborted there after becoming pregnant. It also revealed that nearly 67 types of drugs were used in the shelter home for drugging the girls and exploiting them sexually.
The victims have talked about three people in detail – “tond wale netaji, moonch wale uncle and hunter wale uncle”. The victims have recognised Brajesh Thakur as one of them but police has no information about the other two.
Even the women staff used to harass them and if a girl refused, she was beaten badly by Brajesh and her private parts were scratched by him so badly that sometimes it led to cut and bleeding.
A 12-member team of CBI is now carrying on the investigation; they also visited the shelter home on Sunday and seized many documents.
Twitter is also furious with the shameful incident and this is how users expressed their wrath:

Rape, murder and burial – that too in a Bihar Government funded shelter home. Really, governments should stop calling such places shelter homes and call them what they really are – HELL! https://t.co/Oxh14QVmPq

The repeated gang rapes in Bihar, repeated rape with 40 minor girls for months in a state sponsored shelter home by mighty people couldn't shake the collective conscience of the Nation, Antaratma babu, Beti Bachao PM, Sensationalist Media and other citizens of the country!

NaMo's slogan of Beti Bachao tells a lot about the rape of & violence against dozens of girls in the government funded Balika Grihas across Bihar. Besides the one in Muzaffarpur, there are at least 15 more across Bihar. No action against these, as yet. Why?

How come my tl is sooooo silent on bihar rapes? We are suppose to make noise only if the rapist is muslim or rape happens in non bjp state ? So much concern for a goat but none for the underage orphan girls?

Dear @NitishKumar. Read this too. Maybe this would wake up your ‘antaratma’ which seems to have gone into a Kumbhkaran like sleep since July 2017.https://t.co/77fHCXhfUM

What should have been a news that should have sent governments packing, this one is ending with a murmur. Why? Because these girls are not from the Middle Class or higher caste. India's problem is complete lack of empathy among its Middle Class. https://t.co/DE3XExfqGY

Sexual violence & rape incidences in Bihar based NGO should be dealt with iron hand without political intervention. Our country is slowly losing its dignity; Ending such violences should be the top priority of any government.@CNNnews18 @ndtv @TimesNow

We feel that severe punishment should be given to all those who are a part of this crime and only then, we can expect to keep our girls safe.
