Suryakumar Yadav Gets Mercilessly Trolled For 3 Consecutive Ducks Against Australia
The Indian cricket team failed in repeating its success of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 in the 3-match ODI series as the Australian team managed to win the series by 2-1 after winning the last 2 ODIs of the series.
Other than India’s defeat in the series, there was one more reason because of which Indian cricket fans were not happy and that was the failure of Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav in all the 3 ODIs against Australia. In this series, SKY got out for golden duck for consecutive three times, first in Mumbai, then in Vishakapatnam and yesterday in Chennai.
Though Suryakumar Yadav has a great track record in the T20Is, he hasn’t been able to perform well in the ODIs and in this series, he has become the first Indian cricketer to score 3 consecutive golden ducks in an ODI series, a record which he won’t like to remember.
Usually Suryakumar Yadav bats at number 4 but in the third and the final match of the series, the team management demoted him down the order at number 6 but still the result was the same. While the head coach Rahul Dravid has made it clear that the management will show more patience with the batter, the Indian Twitterati was quite ruthless as they trolled SKY mercilessly. Here are some selected reactions:
Suryakumar Yadav becomes the first Indian to score 3 consecutive ducks in an ODI series.

As far as the match is concerned, the toss was won by the Aussies and they decided to bat first. The Aussies managed to put up a total of 269 runs on the board before getting all out in 49 overs, Mitchell Marsh was the highest scorer as he played a knock of 47 runs in 47 balls and his innings included 8 fours & 1 six. If we talk about the Indian bowling, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav dismissed 3-3 batters each and the remaining 4 wickets were shared equally between Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel.
The Indian team started well with openers Rohit Sharma (30 runs, 17 balls, 2 fours & 2 sixes) and Shubman Gill (37 runs, 49 balls, 4 fours & 1 six) producing a partnership of 65 runs for the first wicket and later on Virat Kohli also played a brilliant knock of 54 runs (72 balls, 2 fours & 1 six). KL Rahul (32 runs, 50 balls, 2 fours & 1 six) and Hardik Pandya (40 runs, 40 balls, 3 fours & 1 six) also contributed well but the Indian team fumbled towards the end and could manage only 248 before getting all out in the 50th over.
Australia won the third ODI which was played at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, by 21 runs and Australian cricketer Adam Zampa was adjudged as the Player of the Match for taking 4 wickets. Mitchell Marsh has been declared as the Player of the Series for his super performances throughout the series.
Now both the teams will clash against each other in the final of the World Test Championship 2021-23 on 7 June 2023.
