Sachin Tendulkar’s Advice Helped Virat Kohli A Lot After Terrible England Tour In 2014

There is no denying the fact that Indian skipper Virat Kohli is one of the best cricketers of all times and the manner in which he is batting, it appears that he is going to break all the records. However, one thing that you will be surprised to know is that one of this world’s best batsmen also looks towards someone whenever he faces trouble in his career.

Virat is in very good terms with the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and they both shared the relationship of guru-shishya (mentor-mentee). It was Virat who came up with the idea of carrying the Little Master on shoulder after India won the World Cup finals in 2011 in Mumbai post defeating Sri Lanka.

Former cricketer Aakash Chopra talked about an incident in which Sachin’s advice helped Virat Kohli to a great extent. He revealed this incident while he was doing commentary in the ODI series opener between India and New Zealand which was played at Seddon Park, Hamilton. During the 27^th over of the Indian innings, on a delivery bowled by Hamish Benett, the Indian skipper played a beautiful drive after getting close to the ball.

Aakash Chopra and Harbhajan Singh were praising the technique of Virat Kohli during the commentary when Aakash Chopra revealed that Virat had a horrific tour of England in 2014, after which he turned to Sachin Tendulkar in order to get an advice for playing drives. Aakash said that Sachin Tendulkar asked Virat to take a long step when he plays the drive, similar to the manner in which he is playing now.

As Virat listened to the advice, he was able to keep bat near to his body and he was in full control of the drives that he played. Kohli has also accepted that he talks to Sachin Tendulkar when he is not able to find a solution to a problem.

Talking about the Indian tour of New Zealand, the hosts gave a huge surprise to the visitors after winning the first ODI by achieving a huge target of 348 runs despite the fact that the Indian team whitewashed the 5-match T20I series.
