Mohammed Shami Slams Critics For Targeting Jasprit Bumrah After His Dismal Performance
The Indian cricket team which is on a tour to New Zealand is all set to play the two-match test series against the Black Caps starting 21st February, 2020. Team India had a dream run in the five-match T20I series as they whitewashed the series by 5-0 but things changed completely in the three-match ODI series as the hosts won it by 3-0.
There is no denying the fact that India’s fielding and bowling in the ODI series was not up to the mark and one of the reasons of India’s series defeat is that Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was not able to take even a single wicket in the whole series. After this disappointing performance of Jasprit Bumrah in the ODI series, his critics started slamming him and doubts were raised on his wicket-taking ability.
Now, the Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has come out in defense of his teammate and asked critics how they can question Bumrah’s ability just because he had few bad games. Shami was speaking at the press conference which was held after the second day’s game of the 3-day practice match got over. He went on to ask the critics as to how they can forget those several match winning performances of Bumrah. He also asked the haters to remain positive as it is good for the pacer as well as his confidence.
Mohammed Shami is in superb form in the practice match against the New Zealand XI as he took 3 wickets while Bumrah also seems to regain his form by taking 2 wickets and both the pacers played an important role in bundling out the opposition for 235 in the first innings.
Mohammed Shami also talked about Navdeep Saini who may get a chance to make his debut in the first test match. Navdeep took 2 wickets and Shami said that the young pacer is beneficial for the team as he has pace, height and talent but he definitely needs guidance. Shami further said that experience comes with time and Navdeep Saini will surely get support from senior players including him.
The test series will be a tough fight as both the teams will like to earn points in the World Test Championship.
We wish all the best to the Indian team for the remaining tour of New Zealand!
