A Call That Changed Sachin Tendulkar’s Life
Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is called the God Of Cricket for a reason. No doubt he is one of the best and finest cricketer till date but he also has several records to his name. Sachin had crossed several milestones and created history on the cricket field and even today kids take inspiration from him to become a sportsperson.
In 2011 when India lifted the world cup trophy at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Sachin was the oldest player in the team. But do you know that long before playing his last world cup, Sachin had decided to quit cricket?
In 2007 Tendulkar was considering quitting cricket because a lot of unhealthy things were going around Indian cricket. In an interview, he revealed that the team needed some changes and he felt that if those changes did not happen then he would quit.
So what changed his mind?
He was 90% sure of his decision but his brother told him that 2011 world cup final will be held in Mumbai. His brother motivated him by telling him to imagine holding the beautiful trophy.
But what actually changed his mind was a call, a simple call, from his role model Sir Vivian Richards.
He was in his farmhouse when Sir Viv called saying that there is plenty of cricket left in him. They had 45 minutes conversation which totally changed the course of his life. After that not only Sachin’s performance got better but he helped win the world cup of 2011.
Interestingly, it was the first time a country won the Cricket World Cup final on home soil.
