More Troubles For Ashwin? IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla Revealed Decision Taken About Mankading In IPL
It seems as if the controversy regarding the mankading of Jos Buttler by R Ashwin is not going to end soon as now the IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla has made a revelation which will further provide fodder to the critics of Ashwin.
Rajeev Shukla said that during a meeting of captains and match referees in Kolkata in one of the editions of IPL, a decision was taken as per which the bowlers wouldn’t mankad the batsmen in the IPL tournament as a gesture of courtesy.
He also revealed that Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni were also present in the meeting.
His first tweet read, “If I remember in one of the meetings of captains & match referee where I was also present as chairman it had been decided that if non striking batsman steps out bowler as a courtesy will not run him out @IPL @BCCI”

During the IPL match between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals, the skipper of Punjab team R Ashwin mankaded Rajasthan Royals batsman Jos Buttler and since then, the cricket fraternity and fans are divided on the matter as to what Ashwin did was right or wrong.
However, majority is of the opinion that Ashwin has gone against the spirit of the game despite the fact that he was right as per law while there are some who are claiming that Ashwin is wrong according to the law as well because he waited for the batsman to leave the crease which he shouldn’t have.
Recently, the veteran Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid also expressed his opinion on this matter as he said that what Ashwin did was right but he would have preferred to give a warning to the batsman first. However, he also said that some of the reactions were exaggerated as the Punjab skipper neither did anything wrong nor cheated anyone and what he did was his interpretation of the law.
But things seem to get little worse for Ashwin after the revelation made by the IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla since it should not have taken place in the IPL as decided in the meeting.
What is your take on this matter? Do let us know.
