At a recent event, Sunny Deol opened up about the project, revealing that he had wanted to turn the play into a film for many years. However, he explained that financial constraints made it difficult to move forward. It wasn’t until the success of Gadar that things began to change. He shared that Aamir Khan was the first to show genuine interest in producing the film, which finally set the wheels in motion.

Sunny recalled how Aamir approached him with a desire to make the film and he was immediately on board, having waited a long time for the opportunity. He also spoke about reuniting with director Rajkumar Santoshi after many years, noting that fans who have loved their past work together would be excited to see the duo collaborate again.

Lahore: 1947 tells the story of a Muslim family migrating from Lucknow to Lahore during the partition of India. After being allotted a haveli abandoned by a Hindu family, they discover an elderly Hindu woman still living there, leading to a touching and emotional narrative.

This film marks the fourth time Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi have joined forces, following their earlier successes with Ghayal, Ghatak and Damini.
