“I Was Stripped Of SRH Captaincy & Dropped For No Fault Of Mine, It Hurts,” Says David Warner

The Australian cricket team won the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2021 after defeating the New Zealand side in the finals and it was the first time that the Aussies won the T20 World Cup. David Warner, the Australian opener, played an important role in his team’s win as he scored 289 runs in the 7 matches that he played with an average of 48.17 and he was also adjudged as the Player of the Tournament for his superb performance.

However, David Warner was out of form during the first leg of the IPL 2021 because of which he was removed not only from captaincy of his team Sunrisers Hyderabad but also from the playing XI in one match. In the second leg of the league, Warner did get a couple of chances in the tournament but he failed to make any impact and as a result, he was again removed from the playing eleven.

The Aussie cricketer had maintained silence on this issue till now but recently, he opened up on it and in an interview with a leading daily, he stated that he was hurt when he was removed from the captaincy and was dropped from the team despite the fact that he was not at fault and he was not even given a reason for whatever was done. He further adds that though he has loved SRH the most for many years, he has no complaints whatsoever as he has always got support of the Indian fans; in fact he goes on to say that he plays to entertain his Indian fans.

David Warner further said that he has no idea why he failed to get place in the playing eleven of SRH but he was still training the hardest ever and never missed his training, not even for a single day. Warner said that it was just a matter of time before he could have started scoring runs as he was batting pretty good during the net sessions.

As said earlier, David Warner was hurt but was also sure that he would get another opportunity as sports is known as a great leveller, it’s just that a player needs to keep on working hard and he will certainly get a second chance. As per him, he is happy that things worked out for him and fans would certainly like to see him play in the next IPL. What do you think?
