Odisha Will Teach Via YouTube As A Boy Lost Life Searching For Network To Attend Online Classes

The school and college going students were affected in a big manner during the coronavirus pandemic as closing down the educational institutes became a necessity for the governments in order to protect kids and youngsters from the lethal virus. However, the authorities didn’t want studies to get affected so they instructed all the educational institutes to conduct online classes for students. This was certainly a good decision in regard to the future of the students but it was problematic for those who don’t get strong telecom network in their houses or area.

Recently, an unfortunate incident took place in Rayagada district of Odisha where a student lost his life while he was searching for strong network for attending his online classes. The name of the student was Andriya Jagaranga who hailed from Pandraguda village, Padmapur block, and was a student of Cuttack Missionary School.

Andriya used to attend online classes through his smartphone during the pandemic but on Tuesday, there was no network in his phone so he climbed up the mountain near his village in search of strong signal but unfortunately, he fell down after his foot slipped and suffered some serious injuries. He was instantly taken to Padmapur medical from where he was referred to MKCG Medical, Berhampur, but he didn’t reach there as he took his last breath on the way.

As per a local teacher, poor telecom network is a big problem in the region due to which a number of students face problem in attending online classes. In fact, there are times when students have to climb the roof, trees and mountains in order to attend online classes.

After this incident, the State School and Mass Education Department of Odisha has taken the decision of continuing online classes through YouTube videos so that the students are able to see the recorded videos whenever they have network and they don’t need to risk their lives.

Though the government has opened the schools in Odisha but very few students are attending schools as majority of the parents are afraid to send their kids in such times, especially when there is already a fear of the third wave of COVID-19.

The YouTube classes will commence from August 23 and there is an option of YouTube Live Classes as well which will start from 9:30 am and continue till 1:30 pm.

Hopefully we will get rid of COVID-19 soon and lead normal lives as earlier.
