3. Imran Khan:

Nephew of superstar Aamir Khan, Imran Khan became the heartthrob of many after the release of his debut film “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na” which was directed by Abbas Tyrewala and starred Genelia D’Souza in the female lead. A lot was expected from him but after some of his movies failed to perform on the box-office, Imran Khan decided to quit acting and Bollywood. In an interview, the actor talked about how he was left alone when his flicks didn’t work, he said that he had 100 friends after his debut movie did well but everyone got disappeared after a couple of his flicks got flopped. He further said that after two of his movies did well on the box-office, suddenly there were many who wanted to party with him but after “Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara” and “Gori Tere Pyaar Mein” fell flat, he was again left alone. “Katti Batti” was his last release after which he decided to quit acting.

4. Parveen Babi:

The actress was known for her glamorous roles and she was one of the highest paid actresses of the industry in 1970s and 80s. She was not just an actress who had worked with the top actors of the industry but also a fashion icon and she scripted history after she became the first Bollywood celebrity to appear on Time magazine’s cover in 1976. Though she had a great career, in 1983 she quit Bollywood and started career as an interior designer, she took up many other activities as well such as painting, writing, photography, sculpture, etc. Later on, there were reports that she suffered with paranoid schizophrenia because of which she broke relationships with many of her friends, relatives and known ones. She also suffered with diabetes and in 2005, she was found de*d in her apartment. As per police, there was no foul play and she lost her life due to total organ failure.

5. Aftab Shivdasani:

 

Aftab Shivdasani made his debut with Ram Gopal Varma directed “Mast” (1999) which also starred Urmila Matondkar and Antara Mali in important roles. He worked in many movies but majority of them were multi-starrer and slowly he stopped getting work in Bollywood after some of his flicks didn’t work well on the box-office. During an interview, Aftab talked about the ugly truth of the movie industry, he stated that a person is like a king when his films are working well but once his movies stop working, he is not important anymore and he is also not called to parties.

6. Vivek Oberoi:

Vivek Oberoi was also launched in Bollywood by Ram Gopal Varma in 2002 released film “Company” which also starred Ajay Devgn and Mohanlal in important roles. Everything was going great for the actor until he created a controversy by publicly slamming actor Salman Khan. It is being said that he stopped getting work because of his feud with Salman, though he is still working in the industry yet his stardom got highly affected because of the controversy.

Ishant Sharma’s Reply To Dhoni On Getting Tired In 2014 Lord’s Test Will Make You Respect Him

There is not even a single person who can deny that MS Dhoni is one of the best skippers that the Indian cricket team has ever had as it was under his regime that India won three major ICC trophies – 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. Many cricketers such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, etc. made their debut under Dhoni’s captaincy which proves that Dhoni has the capability to recognize talent and he groomed them so that the Indian side doesn’t fumble after his retirement.

Though MS Dhoni’s track record in test matches is not as great as that of Virat Kohli but India had registered some great wins under his leadership and veteran pacer Ishant Sharma has played an important role in many of those wins.

One of the memorable wins was India’s victory in the Lord’s test match against England in 2014 after India got whitewashed by 0-4 in 2011. It won’t be wrong to say that each team member contributed in this triumph as Ajinkya Rahane scored a century in the first innings, Bhuvneshwar Kumar scored useful 36 runs in the first innings and then he bowled pretty well in England’s first innings as he took 6 wickets. In India’s second innings, Murali Vijay (95 runs) and Ravindra Jadeja (68 runs) played brilliant knocks but it was Ishant Sharma who produced a memorable spell in England’s second innings by bowling bouncers with old ball and dismissed 7 batters for 74 runs.

A lot has been said about that spell of Ishant Sharma and recently, the pacer himself talked about it in an interview. He says that there are many spells of his which are his favourites including the one he bowled at the Lord’s in 2014. He said that before the spell, MS Dhoni came to him and told him to keep things normal, if it didn’t work then they would bowl bouncers. Ishant responded with fine and when Dhoni asked him whether he would not get tired, the pacer said to Dhoni that he would bowl till he would want him to bowl, till the match would not get over after which Dhoni also got charged up.

Ishant Sharma bowled a great spell, there was a time when England lost three wickets (Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes & Joe Root) for just 2 runs in only 8 deliveries.

Ishant Sharma further told that when they were in the dressing room, Mahi and coach Duncan Fletcher asked him whether he could bowl more and in reply, he said that he would bowl till the game is going on. They both said that he would get tired as he is also a human, Ishant revealed that at that time he told both of them that if he gets tired, they can carry him out on stretcher and he kept bowling bouncers in the match.

Ishant Sharma got injured during this match but it was undoubtedly one of his best performances.

Prithvi Shaw Is Not The First One, Here Are Few Other Cricketers Who Had A Brawl With Public

The young Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw has been making headlines for quite some time now but for all the wrong reasons as he was recently attacked by a group of people for not taking selfies with them. The incident took place outside a hotel in Mumbai and as per some videos which circulated online, Prithvi Shaw was seen having a tussle with a female who was holding a baseball bat. The woman has been identified as Sapna Gill, a Bhojpuri actress and influencer, and Mumbai Police arrested her along with some others in regard to this case. However after getting bail, Sapna Gill has filed fresh complaints against Prithvi Shaw and she has alleged that the cricketer and his friends have outraged her modesty.

This is not the first time that a cricketer has got indulged in fight with fans or common public; here is a list of few other cricketers who have been involved in a brawl with public:

1. Ben Stokes (2017):

The current skipper of the England test team had a fight with some men outside a bar in Bristol, Ben Stokes was in a drunk state and one person whom he hit had fall unconscious. Stokes was in the bar with one of his teammates Alex Hales and they were celebrating their victory over West Indies in a match. Ben Stokes was arrested by police and he was away from cricket for a period of almost 15 months until he got acquitted.

2. Mohammed Shami (2017):

The Indian pacer who is an integral part of the Indian team for quite a long time now had a fight with a spectator in the stadium after the final match of the 2017 Champions Trophy. This match was played at The Oval, London, between India and Pakistan and the latter won it. After losing the match to Pakistan when the Indian players were returning towards the dressing room, one Pakistani fan was repeatedly shouting, “who is father”; Mohammed Shami couldn’t control his anger and tried to beat him.

3. Hasan Ali (2021):

The Pakistani cricketer got slammed heavily after he dropped a catch of the Australian cricketer Matthew Wade in the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, later on Wade smashed three sixes and helped his team in winning the match. Pakistani fans were so annoyed that they left no chance of trolling him; during a local cricket match Hasan Ali lost his temper and entered the stands to beat a spectator who was continuously trolling him.

4. Rohit Sharma and Praveen Kumar (2011):

During India’s tour of England in 2011, Rohit Sharma and Praveen Kumar had a verbal fight with some people while they were practicing in nets. The onlookers passed some comments which didn’t go well with the cricketers and this led to a scuffle.

Many times Inzamam-ul-Haq was addressed as aloo (potato) by public because of his weight but once during an ODI between India and Pakistan in the Sahara Cup 1997 in Toronto, Canada, Inzi was not able to control his temper after being called aloo and he got ready to have a fight with a spectator.

The present day cricket has become very competitive, especially with the advent of the T20Is and now most of the teams prefer to have all-rounders in their playing eleven as it gives them much needed depth. However this was not the case some years ago; at that time, the teams used to have specialist batters, specialist bowlers and just one or two all-rounders. Earlier, the last three positions in the playing eleven were fixed for specialist bowlers and nobody expected them to score runs because their job was to take wickets and not make runs.

Nevertheless, things have changed now and the team management wants that their specialist bowlers should also know some batting, though they are not expected to make big scores still they should at least be able to stay on the crease and play some shots, if needed. This can easily be called one of the biggest controversies of the cricket world, it took place in 2007-08 when India visited Australia for playing the 4-match test series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In the second test match which was played at Sydney, the Indian team was highly frustrated because of poor umpiring of on-field umpire Steve Bucknor who gave some wrong decisions which benefitted the hosts in a big manner.

In response to Australia’s 463 in the first innings, India batted well and posted a huge total of 532 in its first innings but during that innings, an altercation took place between Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds and within no time, things got heated up as Andrew Symonds accused Bhajji of abusing him racially by calling him monkey. After the game, match referee Mike Proctor found Harbhajan Singh guilty of breaching the Level 3 of ICC’s Code of Conduct in a four hour hearing and a three-test ban was imposed on the Indian spinner.

The Indian management even threatened to pull out from the series before appealing against the ban and after an official court hearing at Adelaide’s Federal Court building, Harbhajan Singh was found not guilty of racial abuse. Sachin Tendulkar who was at the crease with Bhajji appeared as witness for the Indian spinner and maintained that he didn’t racially abuse Andrew Symonds. In the end, it was reported that Bhajji used an abusive word (Teri Maa Ki..) which is used in northern India and Andrew Symonds felt that he has said monkey.

2. Homeworkgate scandal (2012-13):

The BGT 2012-13 took place in India which was won by the hosts by 4-0 but midway in the tournament something happened because of which four Aussie players got suspended and media called this incident as Homeworkgate.

After getting defeated in the second test match at Hyderabad, the Aussie team coach Mickey Arthur asked his players to make a list of three things in which they could make improvement and submit to him. Other than Shane Watson, Usman Khawaja, James Pattinson and Mitchell Johnson, all other players submitted their lists to the coach and these four players got suspended for the next test match as they didn’t obey their coach. This created a storm in the Australian cricket world, Shane Watson not only played in the fourth test match but he also led the team in absence of Michael Clarke. Mickey Arthur was fired by the board before its next test series – Ashes.

3. Steve Smith’s brain fade moment (2017):

In 2017, during a test match in Bengaluru, Steve Smith looked towards dressing room in order to get help in deciding whether he should take DRS or not after given out which angered the then Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

As per the rules, a player is not allowed to take help from anyone in regard to taking DRS. After Virat made a complaint to the on-field umpires, Steve Smith was not allowed to take DRS and sent to pavilion and later on, he even accepted it as a brain fade moment.

4. Mohammed Siraj & Jasprit Bumrah were racially abused (2020-21):

During India’s tour of Australia in 2020-21, Australian spectators racially abused the Indian cricketers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. Though the on-field umpires offered stand-in Indian skipper Ajinkya Rahane to leave the field after the incident, the Indian team kept on playing and the Cricket Australia also did everything in its capacity to stop such incidents.

5. Steve Smith caught on camera (2020-21):

During a test match, Steve Smith was caught on camera trying to erase the batting guard of the Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant who played an important role in India’s win of the BGT 2020-21. The act was caught on camera and former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and former England cricketer Michael Vaughan slammed Steve Smith for it. When Steve Smith was asked to open up on these allegations, he said that he is shocked and disappointed because this is what he does to visualize how the batsman is playing and where Aussie bowlers are bowling.

The influence of this movie was huge on a generation and it seems as if the author Taylor Jenkins Reid has also got influenced by “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” as a Twitter user shared an excerpt from her novel Daisy Jones and The Six which gives an impression that it is inspired by the scene in which Anjali read a letter written by Tina (Rani Mukerji) in which Tina asked her to bring her father Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) and his best friend Anjali (Kajol) together after she (Tina) departed from the world.
