4 Instances When England Cricketers Shamelessly Violated Spirit Of Game & Had No Issue With It

The Indian women’s cricket team managed to give a grand farewell to Jhulan Goswami by whitewashing the 3-match ODI series against England but a huge controversy also got erupted in the final match after Deepti Sharma dismissed Charlotte Dean by mankading her. Though mankading is now known as run-out and it is within the laws of the game yet many former and current English cricketers started slamming Deepti Sharma for using this method to dismiss Charlotte Dean. A number of people are of the opinion that even though it is a legal method to dismiss the batter, still it is against the spirit of the game.

Deepti Sharma was supported by her skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and the Indian team management and some former Indian cricketers such as Ravichandran Ashwin, Virender Sehwag, Amit Mishra, etc. handled trollers on social media by giving them kickass responses.

While the English cricketers may have been preaching Deepti Sharma on the matter of the game’s spirit, there have been instances where they behaved in such a manner that they not only violated the rules but also went against the spirit of the game.

1. Amy Jones falsely claiming catch of Smriti Mandhana:

This is the most recent incident in which wicketkeeper of the England women’s cricket team, Amy Jones who is also leading the side in absence of Nat Sciver falsely claimed a catch of Indian batter Smriti Mandhana. It happened during a T20I match when Smriti Mandhana edged a delivery to Amy Jones, though the latter caught the ball, she fumbled and dropped the ball on the ground but instead of telling everyone that she missed the catch, she went on to celebrate the dismissal of Smriti Mandhana. However, her cheating was caught by the cameras and Smriti Mandhana asked the on-field umpires to consult the third umpire who gave decision as “Not Out”.

2. Grant Elliot’s run-out despite the fact that he collided with Ryan Sidebottom:

In an ODI played between England and New Zealand in 2008, the Kiwi batter Grant Elliot collided with English bowler Ryan Sidebottom in the middle of the pitch while trying to take a quick single. The ball was picked by Ian Bell and he threw it towards Kevin Pietersen who was standing at the non-striker’s end and didn’t delay in removing the bails. The English cricket team appealed for run-out but the on-field umpires asked the English captain Paul Collingwood whether he would like to reconsider his appeal because Grant Elliot was not able to run as he collided with Ryan Sidebottom. However, the English skipper Paul Collingwood refused to reconsider his appeal and Grant Elliot was given out. The commentators also stated that you don’t remove bails in such situations but England cricketers are now lecturing Deepti Sharma over spirit of cricket.

3. Stuart Broad not leaving the ground even after edging to the first slip

Stuart Broad is one of those English cricketers who were very unhappy with what Deepti Sharma did but in an old test match against Australia, Stuart Broad stood his ground even after getting caught by Michael Clarke in the first slip. Stuart Broad edged the ball in such a manner that there was no doubt that he was gone but on-field umpire Aleem Dar gave him not out and Stuart Broad also didn’t show any sportsman spirit by walking out. The Aussie players were very upset with this decision and the commentators were also shocked as to how an umpire could miss it and how a batter could stay in crease after he was also sure that he was out. When some online users started circulating this video after Stuart Broad slammed Deepti Sharma, he clarified his stance by saying that 99 percent batters stood their ground after edging the ball.

4. Using mints for tampering the ball in 2005 Ashes series

Ashes series is played between arch-rivals England and Australia and the latter has emerged victorious majority of the times. 2005 five-match Ashes series can easily be called as one of the most exciting series of all times because the matches were pretty close and England managed to win it by 2-1 for the first time since 1986-87. However, former English cricketer Marcus Trescothick admitted in his autobiography that he was ball tamperer for his team as he used mint on the ball in order to keep the ball shining for a longer period, because of which they were able to swing the ball more as well.

Husband Sells Lunch Made By Wife & The Reason Will Make Every Woman Go WTF

There is no denying the fact that women are far better than men when it comes to playing different roles in real-life whether it is of wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, etc. and they are more talented than men as well because they are capable of managing not only their office work but also household chores.

Waking up early morning and preparing lunch box for kids and husband is something that a woman can only do but can you imagine how she will feel if she comes to know that the food that she cooks with so much of love and dedication is not eaten by her husband but by his colleagues.

Something of this sort happened with a woman who started cooking lunch for her husband as they wanted to save as much as possible for the house that they wished to purchase. On an average, the husband used to spend around £200 (Rs 20,484) a month on his lunch when he used to eat out so the wife started preparing sandwiches for him.

One day, the husband asks his wife to make some more sandwiches because his hunger doesn’t get satisfied and she starts packing more sandwiches from that day onwards.

However, things took an ugly turn when colleagues of husband visited their home and on the dinner table, the husband’s friend began to talk about her sandwiches. The friend said that the sandwiches were delicious but they were priced a little bit high. The wife was not able to understand what the friend was talking about, the friend further clarified that her husband used to sell the sandwiches to his co-workers that she made for him and then with that money, he ate outside in a restaurant.

Though the husband denied it in the beginning, he accepted it later on but he also said that he did nothing wrong because technically he bought his lunch with the money he got by selling sandwiches and he didn’t use the money that they were saving for the house. However, the wife didn’t get convinced and from that day, she stopped making sandwiches for her hubby.

Iceland Cricket Takes A Brutal Dig At ECB On India Vs Pakistan Proposal & You Can’t Miss It

India and Pakistan are known to be the arch-rivals on the cricket field and though they face each other in the ICC tournaments, they don’t play bilateral series in any format because of the strained relations between them. Last time India and Pakistan faced each other in short format bilateral series was in 2012 when Pakistan visited India and played 3 ODIs and the same number of T20Is as well. As far as the test series is concerned, both the nations played their last bilateral test series in 2007.

There is no denying the fact that the hype and excitement created by the matches between these two countries are huge and recently, the England and Wales Cricket Board proposed to organize a 3-match test series between India and Pakistan on their soil. The England cricket team is currently in Pakistan for playing 7-match T20I series and this is when Martin Darlow, the deputy chairman of the ECB, put across this idea to the PCB chairman Ramiz Raja.

While the PCB showed interest in this proposal, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rejected it outright and put a full stop on all the speculations regarding India-Pakistan face-off in England.

However, the Iceland Cricket which is known for its witty and funny tweets has taken this as an opportunity to have some fun at the expense of the ECB and in a series of tweets, it not only puts forth its proposal but also takes a savage dig at the weather conditions of England.

The Iceland Cricket promises to provide 24-hour daylight in the months of June and July along with better tweets covering the match and sniper security as well.

In the first tweet, the Iceland Cricket wrote,

“We hear @ECB_cricket have offered to host a Test series between India and Pakistan.

We officially announce to @ICC that we are also offering to do the same & can provide near 24 hour daylight in June and July, as well as better Tweets covering the matches. Sniper security too.”

Its second tweet read,

“This is the Volcanic Ashes trophy for when Pakistan play India in a 3 Test series here. It’s currently given to the winners of our indoor club tournament, but we can create a new mickey mouse event & trophy for them. Filled with ash from our eruptions & set in a basaltic base.”

Here’s what the Iceland Cricket wrote in the third tweet:

“The India v Pakistan Test series in Reykjavík would be the first to introduce this new format that will replace the toss. Azam v Sharma. We advocate swords. Please bring squad sizes of at least 19 players. The option of a super sub chimes well with @bcci proposals for the IPL.”

The fourth tweet was:

“So would the India v Pakistan Tests in Reykjavík be day, day-night or night matches given the 24 hour daylight?

Think of it as a day-night match without the night. Like a prawn salad without the prawns.

The 15 sessions could be played continuously, easing the crowded calendar.”

The fifth tweet read,

The Indian cricket team registered a convincing victory by 8 wickets against South Africa in the first T20I of the 3-match series as the Indian bowlers put up a great show against a strong side. The match was played yesterday at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and though Indian pacers Arshdeep Singh (3/32), Deepak Chahar (2/24) and Harshal Patel (2/26) made lives of the SA batters hell, Indian team management must be a little worried regarding Jasprit Bumrah.

The star Indian pacer was ruled out of the first T20I against South Africa after he complained about back pain during the practice session. Soon the BCCI medical team started treating Jasprit Bumrah and skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed during toss that Bumrah got a niggle.

Jasprit Bumrah is certainly going to play an important role in India’s T20 World Cup campaign and he has recently made a comeback after a long time as he was recovering from an injury. However, Deepak Chahar who replaced Jasprit Bumrah made the most of the opportunity that he got and bowled beautifully in yesterday’s match. As Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were already rested, Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin were also included in the squad; the latter must have got the chance because there are many left-handers in the South African team.

As far as the match is concerned, the toss was won by Rohit Sharma and team India decided to bowl first. The Indian bowlers tore apart the top order of the SA batting lineup as top 5 batters were back in the pavilion at the score of 9 and it seemed as if the visitors would not be able to cross the 50 runs mark but due to some gutsy batting by Wayne Parnell (24 runs, 37 balls, 1 four & 1 six) and Keshav Maharaj (41 runs, 35 balls, 5 fours & 2 sixes), SA managed to put up a score of 106/8 on the board.

Though India got a bad start in view of the fact that the skipper Rohit Sharma got out for duck and Virat Kohli also got out cheaply at the score of 3 runs, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav not only kept the score board ticking but also ensured that no more batter gets dismissed. Both the batters scored half-centuries, KL Rahul remained unbeaten at 51 runs (56 balls, 2 fours , 4 sixes), SKY scored a quick 50* (33 balls, 5 fours & 3 sixes) and India achieved the target with 8 wickets in hand and 20 balls remaining in its innings.

Hopefully Jasprit Bumrah will be fine for the next T20I which will be played on Sunday at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, Assam, India.

“I’d Feel Awkward If I Work Opposite Salman & Then I’ve To Play His Bhabhi Or Mom”, Ayesha Jhulka

Ayesha Jhulka, the beautiful and talented senior actress has made a comeback in acting with the web show Hush Hush which also stars some big names of the industry such as – Juhi Chawla, Soha Ali Khan, Karishma Tanna and Kritika Kamra. The web show is directed by Tanuja Chandra and as per Ayesha, there can’t be a better project than this for her comeback as well as digital debut because it is completely a win-win situation for her as not just the director or producer but the whole team is awesome and she couldn’t have asked for anything better this.

Recently in an interview, the actress who made her Bollywood debut with “Kurbaan” in 1991 starring opposite Salman Khan opened up on many issues such as why she decided to finally make a comeback or what struggles she had to face when she was not working and how she will feel if she has to play any of her co-actor’s mother or bhabhi.

As far as Hush Hush is concerned, Ayesha said that in the beginning, she was not ready for it and she refused Tanuja because she was a little nervous about it. However she thanked the director for showing faith in her, convincing her that she can do it and gave her the opportunity to play someone who is completely different from her.

When she was asked to as to why she stopped working, she said that she didn’t always get what she hoped for and she has no shame in accepting that she was offered projects which if she had done, she would have regretted later on. She added that many people must have started hating her for saying no because she wasn’t doing anything as well.

Ayesha Jhulka revealed that she was offered roles which she had already done or big projects with big star cast in which there was nothing for her to do. She further said that sometimes she was offered roles just to include her name in the project and she would be used as a prop. She went on to say that though she is not a big name yet she is also not a nobody.

As far as working in small screen is concerned, Ayesha Jhulka states that she has nothing against TV shows, in fact that they are beautiful and it is acting as well but she didn’t say yes to TV offers from some big channels because she just can’t work for so many hours and also never wishes to feel mechanical about her work. She also said that some of the shows that she was offered worked pretty well but she didn’t regret her decisions.

Talking about the changes that have come in the industry, Ayesha says that the change is visible in a very strong manner. She added that she would have felt very odd if she had to play mother or bhabhi of any of her co-star such as Salman Khan with whom she worked as female lead, so she would have rather chosen not to do it but she would certainly do a character which is strong and backed by author. She concludes by saying that she is loving the change and hopes to play some really good roles in the future.
